    Mazda MX5 Seats

    Hi MDS, You will almost certainly need the MX-5 seat rails/runners. Myself and a number of others have successfully fitted Toyota MR2 seats to the TR7, so as its a "proven" installation might be worth considering these if you haven't bought the seats yet. Not sure if MX-5 seats have been fitted but they seem very similar to MR2, so probably will fit fine. But as the others have indicated, the 7 seats are almost on the floor, so whatever seat you go for just check seat cushion height.
  2. Hi, I voted "Factory" but I've fitted Toyota MR2 seats - a decision that was purely down to cost. I'd prefer factory seats but had a quote of £500 for refurbishing the originals but got the MR2 seats for £100 from ebay in almost pristine condition. They were easy to fit, about the same width but around 10-20mm higher. Superbly comfy and probably safer than the originals due to the high back and more modern/stronger construction.

  4. The original fuel route seems unnecessarily complex and on mine it caused a lot of corrosion at the floor-sill joint. I re-routed mine through the tunnel on the opposite side to the exhaust. Used 10mm copper for the long run with flexible fuel hose either end. I fixed the copper pipe with generic rubber-lined P clips. Its a more direct route and gets rid of a nasty rust trap at an important joint.

  6. Hi, I did change the coil. If I recall correctly, you need a coil without an integral ballast resistor. So on a TR7, you will probably just need the module and can retain the standard coil. Bob
  7. Hi, I fitted one of these modules to my Mini nearly 2 years ago: You can get them for about £30 (less coil). Its a very easy and well worth while modification. However, I have a plan to get rid of the distributor altogether on my TR7 (using Megajolt or similar). But first I just need to put the engine back together  :-/ Bob
  8. Hi Gary, I've just finished the rear end of my own TR7. I cut out the old outer arches - this gave me access to the inner arch and I made up my own repair sections as required. Its not so difficult to make the compound curves if you do it in sections and if the remnants provide a good reference. The outer repair panels weren't very expensive (about £60) and were quite accurate in profile. Bob
  9. Beans, Its a fine looking car whatever wheels you put on it - but the black suits it better, IMO. Can I just ask what camera you use and if you use a filter? Its just that your car and landscape photos look so bright and well balanced.
