  1. My Herald suffered in a similar way. The trunion bushes had seized up and the suspension only moved due to the play in the bearing.
  2. I've got a Volvo 940 which has a 4 cylinder turbo engine in it and while it's missing a couple of cylinders it might make an interesting swap. The 940 and 2000 are very similar cars in a lot of ways and you could say the Triumph had better suspension on the back ! If you got hold of an early 4 speed gearbox you could even have overdrive although the later M90 5 speeds are a lot stronger. Power from one of these is around 150 bhp standard but 200 is fairly easy to get with a bit more boost.
  3. Thanks for explaining. I will have to forget about the sills at the moment and just hope some are kept in stock or another batch will be made. Don't take this as a critisism but it's a bit like buses when they all turn up at once !  ;) If things with the wings doesn't go to plan at least the deposit will pay for some sills just hope it works out time wise.
  4. Hi Lloyd Just reading about the sills on here. I think I need to read some again as I am getting a bit confused as to whats being done. I'm probably not alone in having to try and plan how I will pay for the panels I will need. I realise the wings need deposits for before making them can go ahead, so ordering them and paying the deposit is my main concern at the moment. Is there going to be a few months between putting deposits on wings and then paying in full for them and when do you plan of getting the sills made ? If all of this is answered on the order form your sending out don't go to the trouble of putting it all up on here as well. Thanks again for all your hard work.
  5. A guy restoring a Volvo 240 wanted to fill in his sunroof hole. His had a Webasto in it and he ended up using some sort of epoxy to stick a new panel on. He joggled round the edge of the hole first. Apparently it's quite a common way to repair modern cars where whole panels have to be cut to fit them. I would be worried about having the overlapping bits of metal if they were welded. Perhaps lead loading the seam after welding it would prevent any corrosion starting. It's amazing how much condensation you get inside the roof of a car.
  6. Not sure whats gone on with the registration. It certainly looks like it's got MK1 doors and you can see the early catches on at least 1 B post. I'd say early car or possibly body but later engine.
  7. Just a thought but were Hadrien pressing the panels themselves or was someone else doing them ? Could there be some press tools around somewhere ? I knew Hadrien had gone from from down near me but hadn't realised they stopped completely.
  8. I replied on the Register forum, and came looking on here to do the same but didn't spot the message until just now. I need a passenger side repair panel whatever else happens. I'm not too sure what to do about the dirvers side one though. After an argument with a truck I had to repair the drivers side wing. It was bad enough to need a large bit replacing but I don't know if a half wing will be high enough to remove all of the previous repair. I'm just glad to have the oppertunity to get some panels and hopefully get to fix my car. I'd put off buying some Earlpart for years and have been waiting for them to start making some more. They promised more than a few years ago they would be but unfortunately it hasn't happened. I hope I can afford a couple of sets just in case this time !

Because they are old school, and none tech savy they prefer you to ring up and ask for the latest prices. However this can be difficult because the lady in the office is only there a couple of days a week. The rest of the time you have to leave a message on the answering machine. Sorry I don't understand.  I thought your original post was for another company who could supply panels.
  11. I'm sure I looked at their website a couple of months ago and didn't spot any 2000 panels, perhaps because there wern't any prices I assumed they were no longer making them. Anyway, back to the wing repair panels, wish I had bought a MK1 now !
  12. That web page is fairly recent. I wonder if it's there just to see if there is any market for panels.
  13. After fitting the 2.5 engine in my 2000 I spent a long time doing graphs of the SU needle profiles, buying a few and then driving it a lot. I got to the point where I couldn't do much else and felt like you a professional ought to be able to make it better. I took the car to a local rolling road and they didn't think they could improve it at all. Trouble is, most places won't carry replacement needles so have to resort to filing the ones you have to make the mixture better, you can only go richer and possibly change the dashpot springs. It's a shame Burlen fuel systems don't have a rolling road to do this sort of work, Janspeed is next door but not much help if you don't live that close. Another area I could improve my car is the ignition timing. I tried a few different distributors but none seemed brilliant. Time for programmable ignition perhaps !
  14. I decided to get a reconditioned head for my 2000 after finding one of the valves was burnt. I bought one form one of the larger specialists with hardened seats fitted. It turned out to be not a very good quality one and needed to be sent back to have new guides fitted as the previos one had been cracked during fitting. I ended up getting a good used valve and re-fitting my original head. That was used for a couple of years with no apparrent ill effects. I suppose the moral of this is don't get a cheap reconditioned head just to get hardened valve seats when the one you have is basically OK.
