acclaimtofame Posted December 13, 2009 Share Posted December 13, 2009 hi guys im a newbie to the forum but have had my 82 hl for several months now so jus a hey how are ya an can i pick ya brains? jus had the head gasket go an im a bit gutted as hopin to keep my acclaim for a good while yet so jus a query as to A: is the head gasket hard to do? and B:is there anythin else needs doing while im at it? any help is massively appreciated as really want my acclaim to be tip top an like new so i can enjoy :) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Toledo Man Posted December 14, 2009 Share Posted December 14, 2009 This is an easy enough job. Check the head for distortion and have it skimmed if necessary. Also, replace your valve stem oil seals (these will come with the head gaket set), get the valves reground and while the head is off you might as well change the timing belt. Don't forget to change the oil as it'll have mixed with the coolant to form a brown sludge. While you're at it you might as well flush the cooling system and check your radiator for leaks.Hope this helps. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
