Vitesse Mk1 2 Litre - What does this bit do?

Hoping some kind soul can help me with a wiring question. I've managed to pull out some cables whilst hoisting the engine so I can remove the sump to cure an oil leak (another story). Two of them I can see have been yanked out of the back of the alternator. I can re-crimp these hopefully. There appears to be a third 'circled' in the picture that is connected to a small item alongside the coil. Any ideas what this is and where this wire belongs?? Any advice would be appreciated.

I think it might be a suppressor. On my car it is fitted to the rear end of my dynamo on the same terminal as the thick yellow and brown wire. Do you have an alternator on your car? If so it may not be required, I’m sure one of the experts on here can help 🤞

Thanks.  I've had the same response from elsewhere.  The car had a radio at some point (hole in boot surround now filled with a rubber grommet).  The car is fitted with an alternator so my mind is put to rest!.
