  1. I was messaged by SaffronGary last night and he commented on how little activity there has been on here and on Facebook regarding the imminent opening for entries for this year's RBRR. And he's right, there's next to nothing. I find it hard to believe that there won't be a meltdown of the website on Friday at 19:00 but judging by the interest expressed here and elsewhere, you'd think there was none. I'm sure Tim, Nigel and the rest of the RBRR organising team will have a full entry within 24 hours but where is the expressions of interest from everyone? Just a sign of the times? Is it me or something else? I just don't get it. Jim.
  2. 23 hours to what? Is something happening? Is the 10CR being announced? Jim. (It's like waiting for Santa)
  3. And the policeman was very understanding too, from what I recall. Jim.
  4. Anyone booked up their accommodation yet? I booked Katy and I into the Premier Inn in Stevenage for Thursday and Sunday for the RBRR last week. If the celebrations on the Sunday night are anything like 2021, then it's money well spent. What are you doing for accomodation? Jim.
  5. Budgie smugglers already packed. You're in for a treat. Jim.
  6. Katy and I are interested. We'll use it as a shakedown for the RBRR. Jim.
  7. Lack of technical ability more than not. Avoiding Carter Bar to get to Kinross is longer and more time consuming. Jim.
  8. Spicy haggis! You have to try it. Keeps you regular too. Once every two years. Jim
  9. Mr Hunt, I would never dream of telling you to "button up". A man of your standing? Certainly not. You're one of the nicest and most pleasant people, that I have met in Club Triumph. And now that you've been made Chancellor of the Exchequer, those words would not pass my lips. Belated congratulations on your promotion by the way. Your point is well made and I withdraw my suggestion. How silly of me and now that you are in a position of power, please don't look too closely at my tax situation. It's just so easy to misplace £27 million in Gibraltar. Your friend and colleague, Nadhim P.S. When you say "that would be invidious", is that Darth Invidious? He's my favourite Sith Lord. Asking for a friend.
  10. My thoughts were that by having a single digit entry number, everyone would know that they were one of the crews that collected the most on the previous RBRR. Jim.
  11. Much as I try for a low number for a bit of an injection of fun into the proceedings, would it not be appropriate to award numbers 4 to 10 to the next highest donations from 2021. 11 crews donated in excess of £2,000 last time. It's a small reward for collecting all that money and costs the Club nothing but recognises the effort from the crews and let's everyone see and appreciate their committment in 2021. It would be a nice touch. Jim.
  12. I can see the border at Carter Bar will be temporaily closed this October if this continues and crews anti Scottish comments on social media and elsewhere will be a reason for their deportation. We're getting fed up with English people coming over the border. Economic migrants looking for a better standard of living. Trump was right. Build a wall. By the way did you know that it wasn't the Romans who built Hadrians Wall to keep the Scots out but it was the Celts trying to keep the English out. Little known fact that. Suas Alba. Jim.
  13. Did you ask for a refund? As a Scot, you have to look after the bawbees. Jim. Note: Once we have independence, the bawbee will be the currency of Scotland for those of you who don't know what a bawbee is.
  14. Already working on my spreadsheet for next year. Jim.
  15. What is it with people who restore cars not tightening everything up properly? After the 2021 RBRR, we discovered why the overdrive was slowly losing oil. Bolts not tightened up. A sound like a failing half shaft. Propshaft bolts to the differential not tightened up. Interior bolts to the "H" section coming loose. Bolts not tightened up. We checked the rest of the car and found that the bolts on the steering rack were all loose! It's a bit scary that a "that'll do" sloppiness can put people's lives at risk. We don't drive the Spitfire much but for it to fail at speed on the RBRR when my daughter may be driving is pretty scary. We bought a Spitfire with good bodywork but requiring an remedial work after the restorer did a poor engine rebuild. We now have a good car but have paid the original purchase price again to sort out the mechanics and a respray on dull paintwork. Worth it though. Jim.
  16. Would be nice to receive a magazine at the same time as everyone else or even receive one at all. Come on, admit it. You just don't like me. Jim.
  17. East Kirkby, the start. But where's the finish going to be? It's a long way down from Scotland. Jim.
  18. 22nd June 2014 Race Against God - successfully completed 17 minutes before sunrise.
  19. And for those of you who want to relive the experience or those who just want an idea of what it's like to take part, here's a video we issued a while back. Jim.
