Getting really frustrated, been logged in for 50 minutes and haven’t been able to get to the entry list to enter ...grrrr -
I had a similar problem a few years ago on my 1976 Spitfire 1500, my Classic friendly MOT tester couldn’t get the mixture lean enough to pass the emissions test, so he put the probe in the exhaust of another Spitfire that had just passed, no problem! In his defence he did suggest I changed the wax stat jets for standard ones which I did and resolved the issue at future MOT’s.

Just spent an hour 'driving' the route using the A167 through to Darligton to pickup the A68 via streetview on Google. Some of the road seems very straight and is well signposted. As Cookie has done I've marked up my atlas 'just in case'

Our experience in the past in Scotland and Wales is to Fill up at the control stops and Tesco's in Wick (Scotland) and you should be fine, unless you have a very thirsty car I was in my Stag auto last time and had no problems with fuel through Scotland and Wales using the designated stops for refuelling. The only difference I can see this year is that there isn't an official stop at Gordono Services after Wales so it will probably be worth picking up some fuel there before going to Westonzoyland. Hope this helps.

Who's got what to do for 2016?
SteveJP replied to GreenV8Machine's topic in Round Britain Reliability Run (RBRR)
Not taking the Stag this year as I'm a third driver in Andy Copas' Toledo for a change, however the Stag is the reserve car and is fully serviced and MOT'd just in case. Andy is taking his gearbox out to sort out a whine/rattle but apart from that it too is MOT'd and ready - he even washed it at the weekend.- 374 replies

Top end noise? - on my Stag i'm lucky to hear the engine at all over the exhaust noise!
-
Not only is it the greatest drink at that time of the morning, it's necessary for that run to Lands End!

That was on the RBRR somewhere north of Edinburgh near Pitlochry I think, I remember seeing his yellow Gt6 by the road and later on a low loader near Glasgow. I think he managed to get to JOG.

But it's very handy when your co driver is asleep - used it a fair bit on the RBRR this year when Graham fell asleep in Wales! My ageing Garmin lacks some European countries and now looking at downloading co-pilot onto my iPad mini , has anyone tried this App?

Talk about luck, took the Stag out yesterday on its nice new shiny wheels when 5 miles up the road the Alternator light came on. Phew - good job it happened now and not on the RBRR, drove home, opened the bonnet to find the alternator bracket (relocated Tony Hart Version) bolt had sheared and it was resting on the exhaust manifold complete with melted wiring! The bolt has sheared off in the head so not an easy fix. Lucky that it didn't happen on the RBRR as it would have been impossible to fix as it looks like its a rad out job to extract the broken bolt. The immediate solution will be to put the alternator back in the original location on the lower right side of the engine but need to source the bracket first- 374 replies

Having missed the last one, I am determined to do next years, Stag of course :) -
It's ok Michel, my co driver is vegetarian so we didn't take any pies and stopped at the motorway services instead after signing in and had a Costa and bun so there were two extras available :)
