  1. Getting really frustrated, been logged in for 50 minutes and haven’t been able to get to the entry list to enter ...grrrr

I had a similar problem a few years ago on my 1976 Spitfire 1500, my Classic friendly MOT tester couldn’t get the mixture lean enough to pass the emissions test, so he put the probe in the exhaust of another Spitfire that had just passed, no problem! In his defence he did suggest I changed the wax stat jets for standard ones which I did and resolved the issue at future MOT’s.
  3. Just spent an hour 'driving' the route using the A167 through to Darligton to pickup the A68 via streetview on Google. Some of the road seems very straight and is well signposted. As Cookie has done I've marked up my atlas 'just in case'
  4. Our experience in the past in Scotland and Wales is to Fill up at the control stops and Tesco's in Wick (Scotland)  and you should be fine, unless you have a very thirsty car I was in my Stag auto last time and had no problems with fuel through Scotland and Wales using the designated stops for refuelling. The only difference I can see this year is that there isn't an official stop at Gordono Services after Wales so it will probably be worth picking up some fuel there before going to Westonzoyland.  Hope this helps.
  5. Not taking the Stag this year as I'm a third driver in Andy Copas' Toledo for a change, however the Stag is the reserve car and is fully serviced and MOT'd just in case. Andy is taking his gearbox out to sort out a whine/rattle but apart from that it too is MOT'd and ready - he even washed it at the weekend.
  6. Top end noise? - on my Stag i'm lucky to hear the engine at all over the exhaust noise!
  7. Not only is it the greatest drink at that time of the morning, it's necessary for that run to Lands End!
  8. That was on the RBRR somewhere north of Edinburgh near Pitlochry I think, I remember seeing his yellow Gt6 by the road and later on a low loader near Glasgow. I think he managed to get to JOG.
  9. But it's very handy when your co driver is asleep - used it a fair bit on the RBRR this year when Graham fell asleep in Wales! My ageing Garmin lacks some European countries and now looking at downloading co-pilot onto my iPad mini , has anyone tried this App?

  13. Talk about luck, took the Stag out yesterday on its nice new shiny wheels when 5 miles up the road the Alternator light came on. Phew - good job it happened now and not on the RBRR, drove home, opened the bonnet to find the alternator bracket (relocated Tony Hart Version) bolt had sheared and it was resting on the exhaust manifold complete with melted wiring! The bolt has sheared off in the head so not an easy fix. Lucky that it didn't happen on the RBRR as it would have been impossible to fix as it looks like its a rad out job to extract the broken bolt.  The immediate solution will be to put the alternator back in the original location on the lower right side of the engine but need to source the bracket first
  14. Having missed the last one, I am determined to do next years, Stag of course :)
  15. It's ok Michel, my co driver is vegetarian so we didn't take any pies and stopped at the motorway services instead after signing in and had a Costa and bun  so there were two extras available :)
  16. I too would like to thank everyone who helped to set up, run, marshal and provide food and refreshments for the participants. This was our Third and I think most enjoyable RBRR so THANKYOU to you all Steve and Graham Car 67 - The brown Stag
  17. Lesson number 1 - Hold the IPad the right way up when posting photos to the RBR diary. Teams 2 and 67 are not doing the Australian run! ;D
  18. I had no luck converting the file to Garmin format using poi edit last time, fortunately my Sat Nav still has most of the control stops in it from 2012 that I put in using post codes and coordinates where post codes weren't available. The post codes are shown in this months Club Torque. The coordinates for those locations without post codes are in Andy's .csv file
  19. Car 67 - Stag - same colour as Cookies Dolly (Russet Brown), just a bit more grown up :) - fully serviced and MOT'd, front seats restuffed, front suspension polybushed (rear done last year), new wiper blades on order, Valvoline VR1 on order, almost ready to go
  20. I use the Greenstuff as well, so far the same set have performed faultlesslessly on an RBRR and 10CR on the standard set up

  22. Over on the SOC Forum, we've had a bit of RBRR promotion and the following observation was posted yesterday, it may be food for thought, but suspect the practicality (and legality?) may not be possible. A very worthwhile charity as you say, as they do wonderful work. However, around £45,000 will also be going to the petrol companies and government coffers from fuel sales! I wonder if there is any (legitimate) way in which any tax can be reclaimed, as you are in effect donating the fuel cost to a charity? When I used to get paid to marshal on Classic Car rallies, the organisers sometimes asked for our VAT petrol receipts after the event, presumably in order to claim it back, and they were certainly not charity registered. Perhaps entrants on this event are asked to do the same? It hardly seems fair to have to spend £45,000 in order to collect £65,000.
  23. Does it then become the RERR? It could then visit those parts of England it misses out, e.g. the South East and East Coasts, and perhaps a midnight tour of the M25, that's sure to test the reliability! ;D
  24. Also if they are not allowed into the EU, will we get proper Duty Free Whisky? ;D
