  1. Gentlemen, I am in the process of stripping out my car in readiness for a body off restoration. Rather than reinventing the wheel could someone let me have a dimensioned sketch of a body trolley please? I plan to use 3”x2” timber to make it from. Thanks in advance. Graham
  2. Good morning, A friend, who like me has a TR, has just bought an early Spitfire which needs to have new door window seals fitted (both seals, both sides). Whilst it is "fiddly" to do on a TR he cannot see how to fit new seals to the Spitfire. On a TR you just have to lower the window then fitting the new seal is possible, although not simple. How does one fit the window seals on a Spitfire please? Thanks Graham

  4. Gentlemen, I am helping a friend to restore his Herald and the next task is to refit the hood frame. When he bought the car the hood frame was not installed in the car and so he only has the the Triumph manual to guide him. There appears to be more than one fixing point the plate on the "B" post for the various parts of the hood frame to fit to. Does anyone have some pictures showing the hood frame installed in a Herald which show where the various parts of the frame are attached to the "B post. Thanks Graham

I have just read Bobbyspit's post (No.73), and it is along the same lines as I suggested to the organisers back in October when we retired from the event after a small accident which meant we found the Sugar Loaf Control closed when we reached it. Here is a copy of the email I sent. "I was a non-finisher in last weekend’s RBRR. On the way to the Sugar Loaf control we had a bump, the car slid on the loose road surface and the car hit a large fence post. Fortunately neither of us were injured and the damage to the car was not major. When we arrived at the Sugar Loaf control it was closed. Whilst we were there, two other cars drove in. When we signed in at Stirling the person signing the books said that there were approximately twenty cars that had not arrived there. We were given a similar comment at Gledrid. My co-driver and I discussed what to do. On the basis that SL control was closed it was a reasonable assumption that all subsequent controls would also be closed. According to the Regulations for the RBRR if you do not get the Road book signed at each control then you are not classed as a Finisher. To me it was not about the Finishers’ memento just the satisfaction of completing the run, but, as we could not get the Road book signed there seemed little point in carrying on. As we could not get our book signed there would have been a number of other teams that would have faced the same situation. This has got me thinking. The Club emphasis that the run is not a race or a competition, so arriving at each control within an hour’s time window seems almost irrelevant. I do realise that the Marshals at each control are volunteers and my comments are not a criticism of the SL Marshals. Could I suggest that when each control closes that either a code board is left at the control or a box of cards bearing the name of the control is left in a pre-defined place. Virtually all the controls are at service stations so the boards/box of cards would be safe from vandalism. This way entrants could have a visible record of having visited each control and when they arrived at the finish they could still be classed as finishers.   8. Gentlemen, Is is because a number of entrants to this year's RBRR haven't linked their own Just Giving page to the Club Triumph page that, according to the Club's page, only 63 of this year's 143 entrants have started fundraising? Graham

  12. Can anyone advise me what the sweep angle is on the DR3A wiper system on the GT6 please? Also, I have downloaded a wiring diagram for a GT6 and it shows a Blue/Light Green wire going from the switch to the wiper motor.what is the purpose of this wire please? I am trying to find a DR3A wiper motor that is suitable to fit to my TR4A, after mine packed up on the RBRR causing a forced retirement, and the one off the GT6, DR3A No.75607B, seems that it might be suitable. The 4A DR3A has a sweep angle of 120 degrees. Thanks Graham
  13. Team 50 Hi, I saw on the test postings to the Message thread that some of the participants have uploaded pictures. I have tried to do this using my smart phone (Samsung Galaxy), using guidance given on the Samsung website and, soon after I send the picture, I get the message "Error in server response". I have tried over two days sending several picture messages and, each time get the same "Error in server respones". I have just tried a message with no pictures and it went through no problem. Can anyone please advise me what to do? Thanks Graham
  14. Hello, I am helping a friend to restore his 13/60 and we are close to fitting the webbing straps to the hood frame. As I am away from the car and he is on holiday I would like some advice please. What size and length are the pop rivets that hold the webbing to the hood frame please? Thanks Graham
  15. I seem to remember that for last year's RBRR, my first one, that the Virgin Giving website offered the Gift Aid option to people that sponsored me. I do not think that the charity would be able to reclaim the VAT on petrol used by entrants as it itself has not incurred any expenditure on petrol, neither does it pay/offer entrants a sum per mile to cover fuel costs.

  21. Please excuse my ignorance concerning Sat Nav, what is wrong with just putting in the destination post codes? I have borrowed a sat nav and that is what I shall be doing as I know nothing about them and there is no instruction book with it.
  22. Newbie to RBRR Team 110 I get the bit about polishing the panel but where does the soapy water fit into the process, what I do not want is the paint on my car being lifted off when I remove them? Also is there a preferred way of removing them? Graham

  25. Team 110 The Jaffas MoT passed, no advisories. Just got to now fit a larger fuse box and relays plus a service, select and pack spares and tools.
