  1. (Page 24 CT Jan 2018)  Uprated core £180 plus vat. Standard core £120 plus vat...and 10 percent off with CT membership. Including carriage my bill for a standard recore was £144. (..and it cost me £13 to send it via Royal Mail)
  2. Following the article by Grease Wetherspoon in January's Club Torque, I've just got my Vitesse MK11 radiator back from NRG in Leeds with a lovely new core. I posted it to them and they did the deal as quoted in the article. Turn around was about a fortnight. Excellent service and far better value than I've been able to find any where locally. Highly recommended. Thanks Grease!
  3. That doesn't sound too bad. Thanks for the advice Pete. Having rebuilt the engine I do fancy having a stab at the gearbox. I just hope the engine lasts long enough to benefit from it!
  4. Thanks guys. I had a feeling it wouldn't be that simple. Old O/D boxes don't seem to come up that often. Maybe I'll have to  have a winter lay-up instead.
  5. The syncro is poor dropping down into second and non-existant going into first on my MK2 overdrive gearbox. It's manageable and has been like that since I got the car three years ago, but I am looking to delve in and improve it. Ideally what I would like to do is find another gearbox to rebuild at my leisure, so that the car spends the minimum amount of time off the road. The overdrive is working fine. Question 1 Are the boxes without overdrive identical (in terms of ratios, mountings etc) to my box fitted with overdrive, ie could I bolt my overdrive straight onto a non-overdrive box? Question 2. Does anyone have a spare (in need of a rebuild) gathering dust? Cheers! Jon
  6. If they're like the ones on the Vitesse II somewhere around the circumference you should find a small hole. Pushing a small screwdriver in there depresses a clip on the shaft. In the case of the choke and heat control I think it's a case of removing the cables
  7. Yup! They're definitely for the later GT6's
  8. Louis, the Gaz catalogue says the serial no. for the MK4 Spit is 2270, but I don't know what the difference is. (I'm sure there are peeps out there far cleverer than me with the answer!)  I've measured them and from eye centre to eye centre they are 355mm fully extended and 252mm fully compressed. If you're local to me and want to have a look/compare you're more than welcome. Regards Jon
  9. I've just placed an ad in the classifieds for a pair of shocks, but can't work out how to edit it to put my details in...derrr! If anyone can tell me how I'd be grateful. If you are interested they are in Tring please PM me or contact me 07904 555730 or 01442 891101. Cheers Jon
  10. I thought it was supposed to be that volume to cover the whine from the gearbox and the diff!
  11. I contacted Carbexchange a couple of days ago to deal with my sloppy spindles. Unfortunately they have five weeks of work stacked up and aren't taking on further work at the moment.
  12. I see what you mean. 1.8mm doesn't seem enough for headlamp current. The one I fitted has pins/sockets that aren't that dissimilar to the bullets.
  13. I followed the link from John ( http://www.autosparks.co.uk/index.php?cPath=94_737 ) and bought a nine pin connector, which has taken all the wiring apart from the two horn feeds...about a tenner including postage.
