  1. I’m about to order a new set of Minilite type wheels for my Vitesse. Offset/ET may then be an issue. Is the offset/ET 20mm or 25mm on the Vitesse? Einar

    Hood fitting – 2

I’m also about to change the hood on my Vitesse, ref to the other post by Mike. I’ve checked - as carefully I’m able to - the parts catalogue and online (Rimmer and Canley) to figure out which part I strictly need and which parts that can beneficially be changed. The rail itself seems to me to be in good shape. Rivets, screws and stud for the hood finisher and the finisher strip is obvious and not marked in the figure. The round circles are the various parts I’ve identified. Is there any other part strictly needed and/or any parts that would benefits to be changed?

    Hood fitting

Attached is a fitting instruction from Triumph World, 2013.
  5. Two questions, related to one another: Does anyone know who may stock clutch slave cylinder (part no.: 516788) not “Made in Taiwan”?  The other question: Is the quality good for these aftermarket products? Anyone has experience whether these last for a while?
  6. What is the correct torque for the set screws to the cover pressing for clutch? Screw no. 8 in the picture. I do not find any specifications in the workshop manual.
  7. Sorry for the late reply, but thanks for the feedback - I'll still use it.
  8. Are these dents supposed to be on the Clutch Release Bearing Carrier? Or is it a damage? Picture in next post - was not able to attach any in the first post ....
  9. Thanks for the replies. I’ve further looked into it, and it seems to be «two qualities» - one Lockhead at around £200,- and (several) aftermarket (Powertune etc.) at around £100,-. Boost level/ratio recommendation seems to be 1.9 for Vitesse – so I would probably go for Lockheed with ration 1.9 – seems to be the right one.
  10. Brake booster/servo - single line: What is the difference between the brake booster of the type/brand «Lockheed» sold by Moss (and others, i.e. Canley): https://www.moss-europe.co.uk/brake-servo-assembly-gsm125.html  and the cheaper one at i.e. Rimmer, James Paddock and others: https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-RH5272  – I think this latters is the brand «Powertune». Any performance difference, or just the price/quality/reliability.
  11. I made a tread regarding brake upgrades. Maybe som info there. I concluded no significant improvement. See here: Sorry , link no longer available
  12. Scroll a bit down here: http://vitesse.no/Garage%202007-2008.html - however fitted for LHD.

    Vitesse hood fitting

I’ve got a guide published in Triumph World in 2013. PM me with your e-mail  and I’ll send it to you.

    rear seat belts

Totally agree with you John, no probs. I don’t think I actually “recommended” these specific seatbelts – just what I had in hand at that time when I “wrecked” my old Toyota. The main purpose with the link was the anchor points and how the belts are fitted – not actually which seat belts. I’m considering new belts, though - probably fitted in the same way. However, I need to look a bit further into it.

    Bumper Vitesse

No bracket, no gap – fits very well. Vitesse 6 and I don’t know whether the valance has been changed/modified.
  16. Yes, I’ve looked at the upgrade provided by Canley, but as they need 14’’ rims or larger I may need to do some further modifications. Also any 4 pot caliper with 40mm pistons may need further modifications. The benefit of the ones provided by BCC is that it’s just a simple swap – no modifications required.  I think I may consider calipers with larger piston diameter with reasonable modifications required – need to check clearance etc. Anyway, thanks all for the contribution in this thread – I’ve learned much about brakes and their handling. I may also leave the brakes as they are – as they are good…… 🙂
  17. Wow – thanks for a comprehensive reply. Summarizing the calculations and your recommendations, I may search for a 4-pot with larger piston area. The point you make about the balance of braking may worry me, and need to be looked further into. There are various threads about modifying the brakes, but they need some further modifications than just simply swap the calipers. I may go along such a route – time will show 😎 Thanks again for your effort and input 😀
  18. Graham, Here is the specs provided by BCC – they also included the OEM specs. The OEM diameter is correct, and I would then also assume the other dims are correct. BCC piston diameter - 38mm (4 per Caliper) OEM piston diameter - 54mm (2 per caliper) BCC brake pad friction area - 3675.58 mm^2 OEM brake pad friction area - 3024.06mm^2 Disc effective Radius BCC - 111.985mm Disc effective Radius OEM - 112.50mm Hope you can do some calculations based upon this input Thanks in advance Einar
  19. I’ll try to get these specs of the 4 pot.  The data on the 16BP currently fitted can be measured. I’ll post a reply when I’ve got them. Thanks.
  20. OK, so the specs I (you) need are piston area of the BCC 4 pot and the ones currently on the car? But is the pad area needed? – that area does not matter, or maybe it does…? I do my best to follow your input and advices 😎
  21. Thanks for the reply. I will consider your input regarding the fit and that it flutters a bit … But the hood is folded for most drives – as you said 😎 But, in my opinion the mohair looks very nice (even though it’s not to original spec – but that really don’t matter to much to me 😉)
  22. Hi all and thanks for the input - especially Graham. I did not follow everything, but if I got the conclusion right this is not the route to follow for improving the brakes in a quick and simple manner. As I said – the brakes are good, I just want to further improve them, and hence considered these calipers…..
