  1. try hammerite satin black , spray or brush and stays on really well if you clean the block down well (degrease then thinners).
  2. Hi wimpus  have just got the one you showed in your 1st post (3/16 one) as the one I was going to use at work has now ceased to function and can recommend it after trying a few test flares which formed nicely and seem to make a good seal. Does take a while to make the joints but if it is only on 1 car should not pose too much of a problem but that is only a comparison to the one I used at work,
  3. Hi , hope you are on the mend, I will have a look over the next couple of days and will let you know asap
  4. Hi wukkie I think I have a pair on a roof ,not too sure what type of condition they are as didn't take too much notice as it came with a rear tub (mines a convertible)i'm using for the floor.it is under a cover at the moment but I can have a look when it stops raining .Phill
  5. had actually talked about this idea but wasn't sure if it would reliable or cause any problems long term ,plus as the gearbox is stripped down for a rebuild it was the easiest option to change the input shaft
  6. update on gear box ,having done a bit of research you can use the four cylinder gear box but the input shaft does need to be the longer version. if any one does need to do this you will need the input shaft from the 2.3 diesel version which has an 18 tooth gear ring to match the std internals of the four cylinder type 9.these can be purchased from the likes of BGH for around £75.
  7. just doing my mk2 vitesse using std 4cyl type nine and parts from Canley classics (bell housing adapator ,propshaft and spigot bush ,depending on if you want the gear lever in the same place you then have to cut off and reposition the gearlever mounting which means stripping box down(not to bad to do yourself) and having it welded back on (alloy which I had done by a friend) it can be left as it is which is in quite a nice position but the hand brake lever hits on the back part of it  ,you then have the issue of carpets and cutting or moving the lever. The type of box used probably depends on power of the engine the 4 cyl should be good for 150bhp but after that use the v6 version but you have to modify the input shaft or you can get a shorter one fitted from the 4 cyl type.
