  3. Nick_Jones wrote:Some thoughts here http://speedtalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=176490 Quite a bit of stuff about it on the web (you are not alone) with lots of conflicted theories about it.  The saner ones include: - interaction with antifreeze from small internal coolant leak - ethanol interaction (from fuel) - very old stock oil If you ever do get a good answer please share it as I'd like to know what not do to so I can avoid doing it. Nick well, after cleaning everything, its all back together with the old oil,not the jelly stuff! everything running ok good oil pressure and wet top end im hoping it not antifreeze getting in,might have to change headgasket to be sure not sure about the fuel interaction,,,would the oil smell of petroly? fingers cross its bad oil not fussed about investigating the jelly oil,il just stay away from crap on ebay! oil, rubber etc
  4. this can is the twin pack i got off ebay,,,first can ok,just changed it last week and this happened....ive used comma quite a few times and never had this but then i got it from automotive shop near me but then these turnd up on ebay 2 for £40 del`d....automotive do them for £27.50 a can and no to castrol r/adds still got the old oil and its good but thin n black

  11. little update.....ive tune it up with colortune kit and set timing at 8 degree`s,,,,been running good, still have problem with slight mis-fire then clears, sometime light blue puff then clears and spark plug are biscuit colour and cream on oil filler cap still after deep clean am i missing something?   here`s a picture of my sparks (far left no1 cyl)
  12. im losing around 1/2litre of water over 2month of running around,no sign of water in oil, after running around it dos start to blow white(steam) then blue smoke(poss oil leak down side of valves guides),not for long few seconds then clears,,makes me think of head gasket(oil and water ways) just behind the water pump i do see dis-colouring and crud build up on copper head gasket
  13. hi all last year i did the head gasket on my mk1 est,,over the last 4weeks im getting cream on filler cap :( not good. now,do i go for another copper gasket or after market type? any advice?         my engine code MB thanks for now

    Engine Noise

mine was main bearings that had worn in place`s,proberly from being stood(15yrs+) and running didnt help it much as its only car, replace all bearing mains, big end and thrust`s i use a long hard handle screwdriver as sound travels better, wood absorbs sound yours could be oil feed problem caused by crap build up and clogging oil ways or poor oil pump,,check it with book spec`s any manual should have it in
