1. I personally wouldn't bother buying a kit. Instead buy roughly 3-4 meters of 1/4"/6mm micro bore copper pipe, a meter or so of rubber fuel hose (same size) and some small fuel clips. A small plastic fuel filter can be picked up very cheaply from most motor factors. All of the above can be purchased online from eBay for less than £20 all in, and you will have leftover materials for the future. :)

Hub Caps

Triumph Toledo and Dolomite 1300/1500 hubcaps fit and look ok. I think also they're made of stainless steel instead of chrome so don't rust! Jordan
3. Here are some images of the Plugs.
4. Hi Guys, My Herald 1200 is running a single Stromberg CD 125 which I have been using for quite a while now with great effect. But having done an engine change recently I have noticed that my spark plugs are different colours and that the car is using a lot more fuel. The spark plugs on cylinders 1 & 2 are black and sooty (rich) and the spark plugs on cylinders 3 & 4 are a beige/tan colour. The exhaust pipe tip is very black and sooty. I have tried leaning the mixture more, but the engine starts to shake and miss. The engine has a 12-52-52-12 camshaft (Not ideal, I know), with a 9:1CR cylinder head and a 12/50 inlet/exhaust manifold. Everything else is pretty much standard. Other than this the car drives really well. Thanks Jordan :)
5. I would advise you to buy a reconditioned complete half shaft assembly from one of the major Triumph Suppliers. A friend of mine got a completely reconditioned unit from TD Fitchets in Telford for a reasonable amount. This will be a much easier job than replacing the wheel bearings and UJ's. Jordan :)
6. As already stated, its most likely to be one of the half-shaft universal joint. However I have had a rear wheel bearing collapse on me before. Prior to this happening, if I drove with the window open I could always hear a slight clattering/tinny/metallic noise coming from the rear of the car, like the rear valances weren't attached properly. After replacing the failed bearing the noise disappeared. Jordan :)
7. I meant is there huge difference in the driving characteristics between the earlier and later 1200 engines. I haven't fully crossed the Twin SU's off the list yet, but if I do you will be the fist person to know.
8. Hi Mark, Well plans have changed for my engine rebuild. I have decided that I want to rebuild my original unit GA224,734. I plan to keep it standard but fit it with the spitfire 4 head and stromberg cd125 carburettor mated to a 12/50 inlet/exhaust manifold. This should produce roughly 55bhp. Still wondering what distributor to use? For now, I'm going to be fitting an early 1200 engine (39bhp) into the car so I can still use it while working on the original engine (only car). Just out of interest is there a huge difference between the early 39bhp and later 48/51bhp 1200s? Thanks
9. Cheers Mark. The Herald cylinder head (1) was taken off a early 1200 engine GA 63,***HE. An untouched unit, with 8:1 Comp. So the spitfire Head must have a compression ratio of 9:1 considering the 60 thou difference in height. Thanks
10. ....also, did the later 48bhp 1200 engines with the larger diameter cam followers use camshaft bearings? I know the earlier 1200s didn't. Thanks
11. Hi folks, I was wondering whether you guys could help identify a couple of cylinder heads I'm working on at the moment. Cylinder head (1) has the numbers; 307170, 514384, D75. Cylinder head (2) has the numbers; 304955, 509896, B113. General Information Cylinder head 1 is 60 thou shallower than cylinder head 2. Cylinder head 1 uses collets to retain the valve springs were cylinder head 2 uses disk shaped retainer. Valve sizes are all the same on both cylinder heads. Thanks
12. Thanks guys, it's been confirmed it's a 12-52 cam. Best, Jordan  :)

14. Hi Guys, I have a camshaft in the garage with the part number 204490 stamped on it. Does anyone know what specification this is? or what engine it would have been fitted too? Best, Jordan

16. Hi Mark, I haven't had chance to fit it yet as I'm looking out for a 12/50 down pipe. Nevertheless, Before purchasing the 12/50 manifold I asked Bill (rarebits) whether it would be worth me buying one or not. He told me, "The difference is quite noticeable, but be aware that you'll need the 12/50 front downpipe to match it to. Overall it's a an easy gain in power with no downside. 12/50 manifolds are getting quite hard to find, so I would recommend buying it even if you don't intend to use it immediately" It is a 6.25% increase in power. Regards, Jordan
17. Thanks for all the advice guys. For now I think I'm going to stick with the solex on a 12/50 manifold. Cheers, Jordan
18. My cars a post 64 1200 so has the sporty cam from the 12/50 and spitfire 4 I think. I thought that if I raised the compression from 8.5 to 9.0 and fit the twin carbs I would match the 64 bhp of the spitfire 4?
19. Thanks for the replays guys. I'm probably just going to bolt the 12/50 manifold onto the car and keep the single solex. That should at least increase my power from 48bhp to 51bhp equal to that of the 12/50, and not increase fuel consumption. Cheers, Jordan
20. Hi Guys, I was just seeking advice on whether I should fit twin carburettors to my 1967 Herald 1200? A friend of mine gave me a set of Spitfire 4 carburettors and inlet manifold yesterday. I also have a 12/50 exhaust manifold. If I did fit the Carburettors would it effect the fuel consumption greatly? Also roughly how much more power would the 12/50 exhaust manifold and Spitfire 4 carbs add? Cheers, Jordan
21. Thanks for the reply's guys. I thought I'd ask as my 12/50 manifold arrived this morning.  ;) Jordan

23. Hi guys, Just wondering what exhaust down pipe gasket should I order for my 1967 Herald 1200? Rimmer bros suggests I use either GEG717 (pre 67), or GEG702 (post 67). Canley Classics suggests GEG717 is for the 948/1200 and GEG702 for the 12/50, but I'm still uncertain. Cheers, Jordan.
