  1. Hi Guys, Does anyone know where is the best place for me to purchase some new cam followers (lifters) for my 67 Herald 1200 engine? I've heard some horror stories regarding the 'hardness' of the lifters which are being sold by some Triumph specialists, so thought I'd be sensible and ask first. Jordan  :)

    Herald Headlining

Hi Norm, No problem. Having reread what I wrote i've realised my mistake. The loops don't need glueing just cutting around 4 inches in the each end so the lining doesn't ripple. Jordan

    Herald Headlining

I replaced my headlining in my Herald 1200 a few months ago using the headlining kit supplied from James Paddocks. The kit fits well (albeit being slightly over sized), however does need quite a bit of trimming and glueing particularly to the loops in which the metal bars run through. Its a very fiddly job and best done with the roof taken of the car. Regards Jordan  :)
  4. I've always used bog standard Silicone sealant. It's all the same, just the more expensive stuff is in a fancy tube!  :)
  5. Hi Ben, Yes your on the right track bud. I always use a little silicone sealant in between the cork gasket and the rocker cover to make it a little less fiddly when fitting. Good Luck, Jordan  :)
  6. Hillman Imp had them also, However all of the cars listed seem to have a PCD of 4" rather than the PCD of 3' 3/4" used on our cars.
  7. I@m not to sure about the off set the wheels, but i would say they have less off set than the herald wheels. I had Herald wheels on my Toledo for a period of time and they seemed to sit a little further out than the standard wheels. Try here: http://forum.triumphdolomite.co.uk/index.php Their a friendly bunch over on there  ;)
  8. As Mark said yes they do fit, I had a set on my old Toledo (with almost identical 4.0J rims) Here's a snap:
  9. Nice car, cant beat cherry red  ;) Looking forward to seeing the progress you make in this thread  :)
  10. Thanks Mark, I thought i'd ask this question as i got a little confused looking at your thread when you said that your Heralds got a GD motor.   Shouldn't  its have the same GA type as mine?
  11. Hey Folks, I'm just wondering whats the difference between the GA Herald 1200 engine and the GD Herald 1200 engine? My Herald 1200's engine number is GA224734HE so does that make it the 48bhp motor? :)
  12. Looking at all the really nice low mileage cars, i would gloss black originally  :)
  13. I thought it was just me experiencing problems! My engine mounts on my Herald 1200 were cracked, replaced them with brand new ones and now the vibration is extreme, and everything's rattling. Think i might put my old ones back on.
  14. I dont know the engine weight, but the ground clearance is apparently 6 3/4", claims this period road test. http://www.flickr.com/photos/triggerscarstuff/4494561925/sizes/l/in/photostream/
  15. Thats interesting as the Dynamo on my Herald was exactly the same as the one fitted to my Traveller! So maybe the rusty old one you where given didn't originate from a minor. 'Dynalite' do dynamo's with alternator internals, but the cheapest i've seen them for is around the £350!!! http://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/product_list/141 James paddocks do recon Dynamo's at a very reasonable £32.50 (pre VAT) or a OE genuine one for £47.50 (pre VAT)

    headlining

I remember reading a thread over on the Triumph Dolomite forum where one owner used ordinary household emulsion to recolour the lining with considerably success. I'll see if i can find the link for you  ;)
  18. The cars just had a decoke and had its valves lapped in. So its got a new inlet manifold gasket and new head gasket. Thanks 2500
  19. Hi Guys, My 1967 Herald 1200 is my everyday car. The carburettor could do with rebuilding as it leaks and one of the jets is blocked. I have a Morris minor SU HS2 carburettor and an Adapter which allows the SU to bolt onto the standard manifold. However having fitted the carb, the car didn't really want to start. When it did eventually start it would only idle and as soon as you tried to rev the engine it would splutter and dye. The choke made no difference. The carb works fine on the Minor, so what could be causing it not to work on the Herald 1200 engine. As pardon my ignorance, both engines are pretty similar in design (the A series and Triumph 4 cyl). Kind regards Jordan
  20. They look extremely simple to make. Thick gauge steel, with all the relevant holes for the top and bottom plates, and then a pair of threaded rods with the relevant nuts. Easy Peasy!!! Wouldn't take more than a couple of hours and would cost less than a Tenner in bits!  ;)

Hi Chris, Ill upload it again for you.

    Herald carpet

Hi Mark, I don't  need the original set and i'm happy for you to have them. The main section, passenger footwell and gearbox tunnel doesn't show much wear, however they are heavily faded! (this is especially noticeable when compared to the dark green/grey colour under the seats and the light tan colour on the tunnel cover). However the drivers foot well is in very poor condition! PM me if your still interested and i'll take photos? Thats if i haven't put you off. I've decided on going for the Boring Black molded set. I've ordered it from James Paddock (my preferred supplier) for just over £200, which is allot, but i suppose once fitted i wont have to replace them anytime soon. I'll update my restoration thread when its time to fit them. Thanks for the help guys, Jordan

I thought about getting the Stitched sets but some of the sets i've seen look apsolutely shocking!!! Also, i suppose once i';ve got a moulded, whilst i keep it clean, it'll last years to come. Hopefully! heraldhabitat, If you want you can send the picture to my email adress, and i can post it onto this thread for everyones viewing. I'll PM you my email.  ;)

Thats what i was think Stu, Is there any possibility of seeing any photos of your Heralds Interior? I've been look at the prices for these Moulded sets and Fitchetts, Rimmers (due to the NO VAT discount) and Paddocks are all around the £215 price range. Canleys and Newtons them selfs are a good £20 more with postage.

1218 wrote:Grey or black would be best for your car as the red would clash with the paint.  Grey would be technically correct, but black would match your seats... M. I agree Mark, i think the Red carpet would clash. I did like the Grey set, but i don't want to order one when i having seen one in situ. Also i don't quite know what shade the grey it is. The Black would match my seats but its just boring! Allot of people seem to go with black. Does anyone have a grey set fitted to thy're car i could see?
