    Pulleys

Well my 'powerlite' alternator looks the business hanging from it's fabricated lightweight bracket -BUT- the pulley as fitted is the wrong cross section. The belt bottoms out. I am now going to turn up a suitable aluminium replacement. Does anyone know what angle the 'V' should be ?
  3. You're a bit young to be going for the 2.5 old man's option. Rev a 2.0 for a few years then buy 2.5 pistons, crank, slippers and pipe.
  4. With +40 bores and 35cc chambers I run a deck height of +0.008'' This gives a low 'notional' CR, but with a 35-75 cam is no slouch on 95 unleaded.
  5. Much better to measure piston heights using micrometer depth guage at centre of piston. Deck heights are a subject in themselves. I'll come clean what I run when everyone else 'fesses up'.
  6. Seems to be sorted with 12v ign feed. Cheers
  7. Hi Clive,     Was thinking along those lines. Nice to have some backup. Haven't seen you since Goodwood, how's the Zetec coming along /
  8. I've got my hands on a 'Powerlite' alternator and now have a problem that is no doubt simple for a sparky to suss. The main charging lead connects to a 6mm pole connector on the alternator. The warning lamp lead is connected to the top part of a 'T' type connector. The upright of this 'T' is connected to a 12v supply at solenoid. Now my battery drains overnight, and a multimeter tells me the cause is the 12v connection. What, if anything, goes to this third connector ?
  9. As nylon does not compress 25mm dia will not seat in the recess. I use 21dia x 5mm thick. i get my bar lengths from www.directplasticsonline.co.uk they have any number of plastics and PTFE. I use on both swing spring and roto. Make the friction faces of the spring as smooth as possible (especially on swing spring) and treat surfaces with water resistant grease (I use Aqua-Sil from Rocol). Wrap with tape and 'jobsa goodun'.
  10. Before getting my Type 9 I spent some time asking this forum for advice (thanks guys), so I was well prepared for extending the cover. I have modified it further as it was very close to the handbrake. The box itself changes quite nicely, but 1st is very low even on the Ford CR box. In actual fact this is less of a burden than I thought it would be. I do have a small, but annoying oil leak from the speedo cable oil seal and despite removing the box and fitting a new one it persists.so I may have casing distortion. Also the gear stick vibrates in fifth, but I have a fix lined up for that. The wife managed to find a Sierra manual in a charity shop, just in case, so everything is set for years of trouble free changing. 5k miles so far.
  11. When I want to loop the loop I will convert straight back to Strombs.
  12. Sorry got cut off; Are the needles straight and do both dashpots drop firmly onto the bridge?
  13. To get that much disparity I would have thought it would look more obvious in the picture. I dont think the adaptors would both be drilled wrong to give the slanted effect, besides the linkage would tighten up. I can only suggest going back to basics, are the needles
