  1. Back in the 70s and 80s when we were working on Triumphs,ex works WCR cars all the big Tiumphs and Stags,we came to the conclusion very quickly that the blunt end of the mainshaft was the problem that moved the two sets of splines out of kilter,so using an angle grinder cut the lead in on the mainshaft so that it is not a blunt end, this worked every time and those times were many even replacing OD units with the box still in place on the vehicle
  2. On the works 2.5PIs we ran Stag suspension front and rear and diff, dont forget that the rear drums are wider than the standard saloon hence as I said on your other post you will have to press out the top of th rear arches, the PCD on the Stag wheels is the same, the calipers on the Stag are bigger so you will need the bigger wheels for clearance,  Keith Baker
  3. Brian Englefield and I rallied a Group 2 1293 Cooper S in the late 60s competing on Internationals,Nationals and club stage events this was prior to building UKV701H the 2.5pi we used on the WCR in 1970,we used as engine mounts the BL Special Tuning Cooper S gear change extension housing mounting, these fitted without any mods. they consist if an heavy duty ball and socket joint encased in rubber, unbreakable.Probably still get them from one the Mini spares comanies around. 4. Having worked on Big Triumphs during the 70s,80s and 90s there was always one manufacturer of water pumps and clutches we stayed well clear of and that was Quinton Hazel, the pump impellers were made of plastic and they disintergrated like clockwork, the clutches did not fare any better with a poor build quality,I notice that these water pumps on Ebay are QH, STAY WELL CLEAR
