Alan Armstrong
Starting the engine re assembly of my basket case 13/60 herald. I now notice there is not a fuel pump attached! The possible problem is, my engine has been declared by Gaydon, that it is from a Spitfire and not the original. I have read/seen from a utube clip, that the Herald and the Spitfire pumps are not the same...can anyone clarify please. Engine number is FD87315HE As usual all help much appreciated! sparky_spit
That FD engine number indicates that you have a Mk3 Spitfire engine, which is good news, as they are the best of the small chassis cars engines. A new pump from the usual suppliers should work fine but likely to have the long operating arm, and you should use the spacer block to prevent overstressing the pump and excessive wear on the camshaft lobe.
