RC67GT6
I was tipping some Main Shafts and in the core pile I found one that I didn't recognize. The top one! Please help me figure out if its worth putting a bushing on this. a variation of a Herald & Vitesse ? Regards Rob
glang
Looks like a non OD 3 synchro item from a Herald/early Spitfire/Vitesse 1600 so probably not worth doing...
drofgum
Rob, I have to disagree with Glang as far as the early Spitfire goes. The 3 synchro Spitfire mainshaft has an enlarged section of the center spline which acts as a stop for the second gear synchro hub/first gear. The factory parts book only shows two mainshafts for the early Spitfires OD and non OD. Regards, Paul
RC67GT6
Paul is this 3 synchro shaft of value to anyone? I have more than one.. I have no idea I'm just machining my way through several core piles in hopes of completing 3) 3rail KC gearboxes 2) standard 4spd and one "D" type OD and I'm nearly done. Ya frigging ha! drofgum
Rob, That shaft may be useful to someone, but it still hasn't been identified. None of the shafts you have shown are 3 rail 3 synchro Spitfire shafts. Regards, Paul
glang
Its strange it looks exactly like this 204679 Herald/Spit/Vitesse 3 sync shaft but without the shoulder in the middle. Could it have been machined off for some reason Rob?
RC67GT6
I dont see any rework tool marks on it.
