    Dash wiring

Hi, I want some photos from the wiring in a dash of a spit 1500... :-/
  6. BrendanD wrote:My car had wires when I bought it. They were new. Finally got rid of them after the 2nd motorway blow out. Hard to maintain, hard to get tyres fitted, wobble all over the place and ruin the handling. Now have 4 spoke revolutions. They look better and utterly transform the handling!! Photo? I have also bought revo's but they are still not fitted to mine :p Spit is undergoing a restoration :p

That's an old wives tale perpetuated by people who don't have wires on their cars. i'm very sorry smithy  :B  ;)

  9. bobyspit wrote:If spraying you will need etch primer i have put some primer on them like you posted  ;) I've met another Spitfire 1500 owner a few days ago and he says that the rear trim & co are not metal and not alu .. so best a primer to put on it  :)

  14. 6015 wrote:interesting, will you be doing all the brightwork to match? no  :P Only the rear trim was original black on mine (also the 2 on top at the boot) , the rear and front bumper are chrome  :) maybe i'll do my door handle's as well , there are original black but not so nice anymore  :-/
  15. And this is the result ! and i'm really glad about it  :) And it cost me about 15 euro's i think to paint them & co , new ones are about 250 euro's .. Mine had got some small dents in them but now you don't see them anymore  ;D
  16. now i've sanded them down , i will spray them black again and put some lacker over them  ;) and we will see  :P and if that's good , i'll do the other ones to  :) I just need to get to the shop tomorrow  ;D

  18. GT6chris wrote:On my MK2 there is a hole in the floor just behind the firewall/bulkhead. The tube goes through a grommet and exits just behind the front outrigger. Chris on my spit 1500 it's the same way  ;) Kind regards Wim
  19. i fixed my original steering wheel today at work  :P there was some play between the wheel it self and the alloy adaptor .. ( seen on one of the first photo's i posted) i've put some bolt true the steering wheel in the adaptor so now it secured properly  ;) I'm going to buy another steering wheel (moto-lita !) in a few years   ;)
  20. uksnatcher wrote:I found the mountney wheel spokes a bit flimsy tbh you can flex them really easily, i have removed the same std triumph wheel as yours wimpus and will be fitting it back on as soon as i get fed up of the blingy momo. The standard wheel spokes are solid and sturdy and just the right size.....expect to pay decent prices for a wheel you will compare with the standard one, try before you buy my best advise. Heres my experimental Momo wheel with a 80's mini hub boss (TR7 hub will fit too): Heres the Mountney that i found the spokes too flimsy: thanks for the info ! But i want to buy a moto-lita .. are there better ?
  21. i also have seen this .. http://www.jamespaddock.co.uk/parts.aspx?categoryID=8&vehicleId=2 parts: MLW1114-13COP    and      MLW1117B45 i have taken a look a rimmers .. wow what a fine price  ??)
  22. this is the only one i could find .. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/steering-wheel-boss-14in-fits-tr7-spitfire-1977-on-003-/360450019522?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item53ec7ed0c2#ht_500wt_971
  23. MikeyB wrote:if you mean the little ally bit pictured under the wheel, that looks like the boss that locates on the splines. If you buy a new wheel most likely it will have it's own unique boss - look up mountney wheels on ebay or similar and you will see what I mean! If by chance you do replace your wheel and find your old boss surplus to requirements, then I would be happy to do a deal with you as it looks like the one I need to fit a wheel I have here at home  :) ok ! thanks for the info!  :P so you need that ally bit ?  :)
