  2. Don't forget all the people that have organised this RBRR and the new website have all done so out of there own time, we all knew there could possibly be problems. I'm a rookie, never done the RBRR before, but took it on myself a few weeks ago to look at the new website and log on for he first time. I didn't want to miss out as I always look at my Essex friends in aww as they get there cars ready and zoooooom off. Massive thumbs up from me to the club and the volunteers who have put this all together 😉 Cheers Darren

  8. Hello Folks Me And Colin (aka thescrapman) have been looking at the gearbox due to me not being able to select 3rd and 4th gears. We took top cover off and we can select both gears with a lever bar gently. Put the top cover back on and unable to select via gearstick. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Many thanks Darren
  9. She is now running I double checked the timing, put new ngk plugs in (I'd put a set in from the service kit I bought from paddocks but they were approx 1/2 inch shorter), took air filter off and noticed the jet on the right side carb was stuck up. Freed this up and got it moving a lot better. She then started first time. Happy days Thank you everyone for your help Cheers Darren
  10. Thanks Gents I will have a look over the weekend all the best Darren
  11. Hi All Me and Colin aka thescrapman have been trying to time my 1500 engined Mk4 Spitty. Having tried various methods she still won't run. At first we thought it was the starter as she wants tio run but the starter was disengaging too soon. I bought a brand new starter and that does the same. if you change the ht leads it turns over as normal. Tonight I followed thia link: Sorry , link no longer available and still no running engine. I've checked the dizzy drive gear to and that is at 10 past 8 with the skinnier part to the top. Not sure what to do now and I am at a total loss. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers Darren
  12. Thank you for all the info Clive and Ferny Lots of reading etc to do Many thanks Darren
  13. Does anyone know which size MX-5 engine to use as there is a few sizes available. Also what parts would be needed apart from the engine and box. Would I need the ecu, wiring harness, fuse box, manifold, prop etc. Many thanks Darren
  14. Thank you for the replies, I only asked as there are a lot of TR7 engines about and all seem to be very cheap. MX5 option could be a good option as I have a friend who is a mechanic and he may have the engine etc available from a parts car very soon (will keep you updated). Is there much info on this conversion. Many thanks again Darren
  15. Hi I've tried to look back through the spitfire section and done some searches but can't find any info. Has this been tried before? Many Thanks Darren
  16. Hi Mike Did you send me an email? if so nothing has been received Cheers Darren
  17. Mine didn't have the outer, must have been changed before, sorry for the mis- advice. I am in the process of poly bushing mine and with a suitable vice a g-clamp and washing up liquid it's been a breeze. Darren
  18. Leave the outside metal tube in place, use some washing up liquid to help ease it in, if that fails gently boil the bushes in a pan as this makes them softer. Hope this helps Darren
  19. Hi I have the same engine as you and it took me an eternity to start. What I did was get someone to turn the key while you put your hands over the holes on the carbs where the air filters would sit. Make sure your air filters and housing are not fitted. If that doesn't work check the diaphragm in the fuel pump as the little filter can get clogged up. And sometimes the diaphragm maybe split. Darren
  20. Marcus That engine etc is just pure quality, looks fantastic, do you fancy coming down south and doing mine  ;) Darren
