    Engine number

Ok thanks for the replies guys. another question. when i bought the car it had a 2000cc inlet manifold and carbs fitted by the previuos owner 🙁 he stripped out pi system. i already had a 2500s inlet manifold and hs6 carbs plus a 2500s head which i had skimmed downt to give a 9 to 1 compression ratio plus a camshaft from chris witor similar to the 308778 but with inlet lift increased from 232 to 261 also a  witor stainless six branch and big bore exhaust system all this is fitted to the engine now. the question is what would the car run like if i just removed the carbs and fitted a triumph 132bhp or 150bhp pi system to it but left the S cylinder head and 261 inlet lift camshaft fitted?

    Engine number

Hi the original engine in my 1972 mk2 2500pi was siezed when the previous owner aquired the the car and he replace it with another engine the number of this engine is MG21110HE.ive removed the camshaft which has number 308778 on it but this number definitly doesnt look factory stamped more like its been done with a hand held scribeing machine, it also has a wide grove on the end, any idea what model triumph this engine and cam came from? thanks
  11. Although ive had the standard tr6 steel wheels for a few years only just noticed they have 5.5j x 15 x 6 stamped on the outside, is the no 6 the offset or et number?
  12. Ive moved my battery on my mk2 saloon to the boot, not sure about the stags but on the saloons theres a recess of about 120mm or more next to the drivers side rear wing and enough width to fit an after market battery tray, theres a 25mm hole and grommet low down behind the clutch peddle and ive run the cable under the front seat and carpet with one hole drilled with grommet to get under the rear seat to the boot 🙂
  13. one thing thats an advantage with the alloy rocker cover it doesnt collapse when tightening down, also i think there might be enough depth round the edge where the gasket fits to have a groove machined into it for a PTFE seal,

    Logic Overdrive

I could be wrong Hogie but didnt some of the early Tr5s have overdrive for second gear, but yes wouldnt be using overdrive in 2nd to much anyway, also arnt the A type overdrive gearboxes stronger than the j type. i no what you mean though i think the mgb gt v8 only had overdrive in 4th gear cause off the extra tourque from the v8 engine
