  1. It has been mentioned here before...Petrol, if the petrol is old, you will not start the engine on it. I would buy a gallon of fresh fuel and run it straight into the fuel pump (bypassing the tank), at least you will be certain that the fuel is fresh and clean. If you look at your last photo, you will see a round metal object with 2 pipes going into it, this is the fuel pump. You will need to check the pipes as one goes to the carburettor and the other is the supply from the fuel tank, it's the tank supply pipe that you need to remove and then use a suitable  rubber/plastic pipe to go from the fuel can to the fuel pump (make sure the can is sited on a level safe area) and give it a try, but as stated, you must get the ignition working correctly as well.
  2. Did they fit a new thrust bearing when the gearbox was rebuilt? did you ask them to fit a new one?. If you did, take it back to the garage and let them have a look, the bearing/work done, must have some sort of guarantee on it :)
  3. Nick, I have just checked my car and the clamp fits on all 4 parts of the spring up towards the interior light switch end, so as the spring leave the hinge, it goes across, then loops back and then loops back away again, it's near the loops, where the clamp fit to all 4 sections. Hope that makes sense 🙂
  4. Your engine looks good Wim Nick, would any primer do for the pre- paint job or does it have to be a special heat resistant paint :)

West Country Triumph did a very nice job for me on the bodywork so I am now having to do an equally good job inside the car by  purchasing all new interior trim. More expense aghhhhhh!! Looking gorgeous John and sounds lovely as well, don't worry about the expense as I'm sure you will want to keep her (the car) for many years and get lots of pleasure too
