  1. Application in the post today! What I'm curious about Jason is how you aren't first on the list, surely your form wasn't delayed in the post?! Is it significant having the address of your co-driver? I just put to use my own for all correspondence. Now I just need to get back to my huge long list of stuff i need to do the car beforehand - especially as I hope to get it repainted before then! We'll be breaking the apparent pattern and not be coming in a saloon but a GT6. Looking forward to it, Dicky
  2. Hi chaps, Sad news I'm afraid - I'm going to have to pull out from the rally at the last minute now. I found out just yesterday that my co-driver will have to be working tomorrow rather than tooling around in an old car sadly. The only other pal I can call on in my neck of the woods is away with the TA this weekend as well. It's a real bummer as I've been looking forward to this for a while now. However, I did drive the Triumph up to Derbyshire last weekend and the clutch was struggling a little at motorway speeds so maybe it was a blessing in disguise rather than an ignominous end to the day on recovery lorry! An absolute blow though and my co-driver has been given a bit of a dressing down about not blowing off work but such is life I suppose. I hope the event goes swimmingly and is lots of fun and thanks for going to all the effort organising it Jon. I demand lots of pictures of the day to vicariously enjoy it! Good luck, Dicky

  4. That's a great shame to hear Michael. I hope the AutoSolo manages to go ahead at some point in some way in the future this year. Do keep us posted as would have loved to have come! Dicky
  5. Entirely right Paudman - now I've looked at the picture properly that was an oversight... more haste less speed! 490 wrote: Going by the photo this one is hitting the calliper housing rather than the pistons; I’d agree with all those who have posted that the felt seal is stopping the hub from seating fully.
  6. Hi FullThrottle, I have just recently upgraded to the same VL as well. Curiously I had a similar problem but ended up solving it by re-balancing the bearing and pressing the pistons out of the calipers and refurbishing them cleaning all the grunge out. Admittedly this is a setup with alloy front hubs and beefed up stub axles so slightly different. Are you sure its not just the bearing end float is out. As people have said is the felt seal cap replaced the right way round (as you used the original one) and nipped the bearings up correctly? Good luck, Dicky
  7. I'd definitely be interested in a bit of Auto solo - no bleeding route plotting either! Barton Stacey would be jolly handy for me Dale as we'll be down in West Sussex by then. Hopefully you'll have a decision soon? So chalk up another team for when the entry is open. Cheers, Dicky

    MX5 Seats

Hi Mark, A lot of people prefer them, especially if the actual metal frame of your seats has gone the way of the dodo. I haven't done the conversion - but the rails of the seats do need some basic reshaping to fit into the Spit/GT6 tub. However, it might still be worth revamping your existing seats (especially if the frames and your covers are still serviceable) have you tried Park Lane Classics? Owen is a top chap and makes all of the foams himself. I just reupholstered my GT6's seats myself as a Christmas present to myself and got new covers from him at the same time (decidedly unoriginal spec leather but to the exact same pattern) and as you can see them next to each other it gives the original seats a whole new lease of life! Good luck with whatever you decide but plenty of people here have made the move to MX5 seats. Cheers, Dicky
  9. Hi Wim, Bad luck matey - been there and done that though fortunately you seem fine. It could have been worse as I had two sheer on a motorway! Either through over-torquing or working loose like yours. Needless to say I've now gotten all a bit OCD with the torque wrench. Still as obsessive behaviour goes it's not a bad one to have. I then made the plunge and upgraded to the Freelander studs you mentioned for added piece of mind  :P Because of that I've got some original spec Spit nuts that aren't going to find much use now with the M12 studs fitted. I'm pretty sure I have a full set of new looking nuts although there might be one or two that are possibly bit naff and worn looking (just cosmetically) and quite possibly some of the longer Dolly studs that I fitted as a short term measure if you're interested…? I understand your pain but isn't this part of the fun?! Give me a shout if you are, Dicky
  10. I would love to come along with the GT6 as this sounds like a great day and is relatively local to me. However, as I suspect you know Dale, I'm not quite in a position yet for motorsport! As bad luck would also have it I have to be at a wedding that weekend as well but it would be a great pity for a lack of interest to kill this stone dead by this year so I just wanted to flag up my interest for next year! Dicky
