Richard_M
Plans are afoot for a quick rebuild of the Spitfire engine over winter and ready for the new season. In the previous, rather hurried, rebuild I used County Spit pistons, but would have liked to use GT6 for their centre pin and consequent higher torque (if increased piston 'slap'). Due to the 1mm bore difference between a 1296 Spit and GT6, a STD GT6 piston would go into a +40 Spit bore. But I'm considering a +20 GT6 piston in a +60 overbore on the Spit. Why not?Stop me before I make the mistake… :)Richard
Nick Jones
the extra +20 won't gain you anything much and will be the limit for the block......Not sure if the standard head gasket will have big enough holes either.Nick
Richard_M
Mmmm - 'no replacement for cubes'…Head gasket fire ring size is a good point though - will check that. The ready availability of a set of SP +20s may be a factor too - appeals to my tightness. :)R
