fermer Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 Hi,Just wondered if anyone knows if you can get hold of chrome/silver switch surrounds for the interior light and window switches. I have often thought this would enhance the interior but didn't realise they were manufactured until I saw this on ebay:http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120681005933&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:ITNo point in just having one switch in chrome though! If anyone knows where these surrounds (with switches if necessary) could be bought from, or knows if you can send of the black ones to be coated then please let me know. Thanks,Paul
DJT Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 These 'chrome' switches were never fitted to the Stag. I would want to see a photo of the rear connections and some confirmation of the internal set up of this switch. The Stag switches are somewhat peculiar in the way they are wired. Even some of the current 'new' switches from the Stag suppliers need modification. As for getting existing ones 'chromed'. Applying chrome finish to plastic is a specialist job and probably expensive as a 'one-off'. You could try plastic primer and chrome paint if you want a bit of bling on the centre console.Dave
cheesoid Posted February 6, 2011 Posted February 6, 2011 could it be that this switch is from a Jaguar XJS?, a lot of these early Jaguar's shared parts with the stag, the stag as DJT states only ever came with black plastic
Make mine a V8 Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 They do sets of dial and switch surounds for TVR. Look ok if you do them all but I prefer the original look. It is good to see one of those switches still with the pattern on it :)
Tony Pulis Posted February 16, 2011 Posted February 16, 2011 I have had the same idea for a while now and I found this site which is worth a lookhttp://www.chromeeffects.co.uk/ 8)
fermer Posted February 16, 2011 Author Posted February 16, 2011 Managed to find some chrome switch surrounds that looked about right and decided to take a risk and buy them, haven't fitted them yet but they look identical to an old black broken surround I have kept, so don't see why they won’t fit. Will take a photo once in.They are genuine new old stock and come in lovely old Lucas boxes. Check out http://www.holden.co.uk/displayProduct.asp?pcode=54326686Wish I'd bought some more to make up for the expensive postage
