Restoring a hard top MK 2 Spitfire

Hi There,

I am restoring a MK2 factory hard top and looking at how to secure the back of the hard top to the body. I have the chrome bolts to go through the tabs seen on the first image but they meet a  tapped plate fitted under the rear deck. The original part was a tapped plate ( rimmer catalogue no. 613931)  but is no longer available. Can anyone advise on the thread size to allow me to fabricate this part.

Many thanks

Thanks gents, that helps, now to get some thick flat bar and tap it to take the bolts as unfortunately at the car end of this set up there are no mounts or fixings and the original parts are no longer available.

I am still trying to decipher what the 2 captive nuts are to connect to, does anyone have a picture of the set up here again the Rimmer / Moss catalogue comes up blank as parts not available but I am not even sure what they are for.

Thanks again

the 2 captive nuts shown in the pic are for the B post attachment.

I am not familiar with the mk2, but on the mk3 there is a bracket attached to those, plus another on the hood frame attachements, then a bolt between. I know teh mk1/2 are going to be different as no hood frame as such.

Found these on fleabay, my give you some idea, looks like they just locate into the hood stick tubes?
