pollystag
Hi all,im in the process of fitting a second hand diff into my stag, the diff has got a cd number on it which i think is from a tr6? Does anyone know what the ratio will be and will it be suitable for my manual o/d stag?cheers steve.
Richard B
If its a UK TR6 diff then it should be a 3.45, which is taller than a Stag 3.70This is popular for anyone with an OE auto Stag, as it makes motorway cruising more relaxed. What backplate is fitted? The Stag has the same body mount points as the MkI Saloon and all Estates. But the Stag backplate will not align with all the bolt holes on the casing and you need a Saloon one.If you take the backplate off, you can count the teeth. Alternativley there is the "count the number of turns" method.
pollystag
Ah you have me there.at the moment i know the stag one is alli and the new one is steel but to the eye they look the same? Will i if needed just be able to change these over? Although saying that the feller i bought it from said it came from a stag.steve.
Richard B
I'm suprised that its steel, but that said if it looks the same and is already fitted to the casing, I'd say don't worry.
pollystag
Ive looked here, and it says cd is from an export tr6 on carbs and gives the ratio as 3.7/1 so this should work ok.[Sorry, link no longer available]#Quick">[Sorry, link no longer available]#Quick
