Differential pins - replacement

Hi,

Anyone know how the pins that secure the diff mounting bracket are secured.  I've been asked to replace some badly corroded ones and thought it was simply a case of grinding off the weld around the pin.  

I have now done this but the pin doesn't move (although the metal work round about it does).  I suspect that this may have been "repaired" before and will post some photos on Monday but would appreciate any info.

I did it on a 2.5 Estate. The pins go through a box section and are welded top and bottom.

I think I also had to cut some panelwork to get to the tops of the pins. Not sure about the Stag design though.
