Wiring up a rev counter

Hi again,

I've recently aquired a dash from another TC with a rev counter in it.
I've plugged it all in except for one wire which Im no longer sure where it goes :-/
The wires at the back of the rev counter are as follows:

Black - Negative (Earth), Connected to loom,
Green - Connected to loom,
White - Connected to loom,
White/Grey - ????????????????????

I thought this white/grey wire would go to the negative terminal of the coil but when connected there is no spark and the engine will not fire!
