  1. Hi All Correct me if I’m wrong but my understanding is that once your car has been registered as Historic (over 40 years old) you no longer need to get an MOT. It is optional but vehicle must be kept in a road worthy condition. My question is that if you get an MOT test after being exempt and it fails do you have to resolve it before you can use the car? Also do you have to continue getting the car MOT’d or once it has expired it is still optional? Thanks in advance for any advice.
  2. Couldn’t agree more. Managed to resolve a lot of rattles and squeaks over the years but seems to be a never ending battle!
  3. Callipers have now been replaced in addition to new updated disks and pads. Jobs left are: Fix speedo, hoping that the connection at the back has just come loose as I only replaced this cable earlier this year. Fix carpets so that they don’t ride up under feet. Finally try and get all speakers on the stereo to work.
  4. I had problems too. I created a page then linked it to what I thought was our chosen charity and it wasn’t. Didn’t realise that until it wouldn’t let me link to the RBRR event. Then had to delete that site and create a new one. Not very intuitive site and search is appalling. Previous RBRR event came up when I was trying to find this years!
  5. Replaced brake callipers today. Brakes are now feeling great. Next on the list is to fix a slight exhaust leak on the join between front pipe and down pipe. I really need to do this as exhaust fumes are going up into the interior of the car. Just wish I had a 2 or 4 post lift!
  6. I remember that. You were fixing your carb whilst I was fixing the securing bolt on my alternator. Ferny was smoking his cigar whilst your car was peeing petrol everywhere ! 🤣
  7. Yes hopefully I’ll be in mine unless I cock up changing the brake callipers. Those seven years will fly by, it only seems a short while ago that my son was 10! He’s just turned 19 now. Where did those years go!
  8. Hi Jason How do you add your team name on the event list? Thanks Paul
  9. New brake callipers have arrived for the Spit so will be fitting them hopefully this week. Any useful tips or tricks when fitting?
  10. Last time and previous years we got to wander round the museum for free, not sure about this year.
  11. This will be the eighth time that Eve my Spitfire has done the event. For my co-driver it will be his first. He is my son and was only 4 years old when I did my first RBRR. Both looking forward to it.
  12. Fitted new front EBC brake discs and pads to the Spit yesterday which I’m really pleased with as it has solved a pulsating brake pedal that I’ve had for a while. 🙂 However I noticed that the rubber seal on both brake callipers have gone so another job to do before the RBRR!
  13. We were about to put our roof down when we stopped for petrol but forecast was rain and it did shortly after our stop. Hoping to get top down later 🤞
  14. Set off at 11:30am this morning and so far so good although Speedo has packed up! It did that to me on the RBRR. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the start. 🙂
  15. Entered and thought the entry was quick and painless. This site is so so much better. A quick question, do all crew members have to be a member to take part?
  16. Looks like a good route Chris and looking forward to taking part this year. I should have my son as my co-driver. This will be his first CT event. I thought it might be good experience for him in preparation for the RBRR that we are also doing. 🙂
  17. Scotland one of my favourite parts of the RBRR IMG_4430.MOV
  18. Pete the gearbox is making a slight droning noise in first, second and third gears, so is on its way out and will need reconditioning. All gears work ok and noise is not too bad at moment so I think it will last for the event but if time and money permits I’ll see if I can change it before the event.
  19. Items on the to do list for my Spitfire 1500 are: Replace front disks Change Head gasket Service and possibly change gearbox but not sure if I’ll leave that until after the event.
