  1. The critical thing to ensure is that the cable is rated for the upstream fuses! The original Lucas fuse rating are not the same as for modern fuses which are rated for the continuous load so a Lucas 50A is rated as a 25A modern fuse. See table below:-
  2. I don't know about the French rules, but in some EU countries only totally unmodified cars meet their criteria for classic cars. How many totally unmodified Triumphs are out there with only original manufacturers parts fitted?
  3. Strongly recommend you install this on your phone as it will show LEZ zones and if they are in force for your car, since some depend on the prevailing environmental conditions.
  4. Door skin dimensions are 1m x 0.6m. Cheers Howard
  5. Just checking the sizes tomorrow to make sure it fits in Clive's car as its quite large...
  6. The 10CR route starts south of the "zone a faibles emissions Rouen" area shown on your map so it confirms we should be able to stay out of trouble with les flics even if they don't agree that our car documents meet the requirements for 'Voitures de collection'
  7. Its sitting there all alone in my garage waiting to be collected 🙂
  8. - When I checked on the EU Green Zone App, the start shown on Ellis's map appears to be south of the Green Zone. The Android Green Zone App a free app that I have used for a few years which helps to avoid any unnecessary fines. H
  9. Not sure what's going on but as of today I am unable to reply to anything on the forum. Reply boxes are greyed out and also unable to create new item! I have tested both Firefox and Chromium with identical results. Both are running on Linux Mint and have been fine for very many years. This is from my mobile on Firefox which is still working for now. Cheers Howard
  10. Don and others. The Rouen Hotel is in the middle of the Green Zone (aka LEZ) zone. I think we will be fined if we go there. Howard
  11. Accomodations sorted by my co-driver. Just have to sort out how to cross to France 🙂
  12. Replacing the reversing light switch on the TR7. It unscrews easily, but it requires two hands to align and turn it blind for reinsertion. Unfortunately the opening in the transmission tunnel is only wide enough for one hand at a time ...
  13. Usually nearer the event teams are looking for replacement co- drivers so you shouldn't have a problem. See you at the start. H
  14. The waving doesn't work as you will be at the Southbound Services while yorskhire spam will be at the Northbound !
  15. My inexpensive Aldi set has hinged socket head so they can be used in very tight corners which comes in handy 🙂
  16. I have a cheap set from Aldi, which is nice and thin so great for getting to those difficult nuts. Not heavy duty, but worth every penny.
  17. Chris & I were driving the final 2024 C2C recce yesterday and due to a fault with the power feed to my usual Garmin SatNav we were forced to rely on the TomTom app that I was testing. During three hours driving on unfamiliar roads the Speed camera warnings always seemed to be correct and appear to be intelligent as they only shouted at us when over the limit. My original question still stands - has anyone else tried the app and what do they think? Howard
  18. I am testing this app for event routes and so far am impressed, but would like to find out if anyone else uses it and what they think. Good points:- Loads GPX route files via computer Very good speed camera (alarm and display) plus live traffic warnings Maps download onto phone so keeps running when no phone signal. Low annual cost (£20) Clear graphics Not so good points:- Challenging to initially set up for uploading GPX route files due to lack of clear instructions TomTom follows waypoint routes well but does not display the waypoints. Map files are large and have to be individually downloaded. (UK mainland is 3 separate maps) Not clear if it deals with international borders. No option found to avoid ULEZ zones. Display runs second or so behind actual position which is noticeable on roundabouts Comments please.
  19. I loaned items and borrowed them on events. IMHO they should be returned, if possible, to the original owner so you can borrow them again next time 😀 My 5L new can of oil covered an RBRR and two 10CR's before I finally managed to be in the same place at the same time so it could be handed back. That was fine by me. Cheers Howard
  20. I think you have hit a nail on the head. Cambridge group would also be without an organiser until Rob Pearce recovers except I volunteered myself. The forum is good, but it's not always easy to find or update things on the web site. For example CT has a dedicated YouTube channel, but you would never know it from our Web Site. As for temporarily changing venues for our meetings, I can post it in the forum, but I don't think I can change the location in the list of area groups. H
  21. Sorry, but its much to expensive to send a postcard these days 😂 I fully agree that the site needs to be kept up to date. Cheers Howard

    TR7 body kit

Moisture will still get in between the fibre glass and the metal and the corrosion will continue.
  23. Don't forget the Cars on the Green at Barrington, (which lies between Cambridge and Royston) which will be held be at Noon on New Years Day. Its free and open to all so feel free turn up and enjoy the first drive of the year in your Triumph (or any other classic you own). Cheers Howard
  24. Clive, what's the issue with the regs and compatibility here? My understanding is that all sockets need 30mA RCD protection so you will still have issues with your welder. I had a similar issue at a motor workshop not long after the use of ELCB protection became mandatory in the 1980's
  25. RCBO is a combined device that protects against both overload and earth faults (ie electrocution) Typically it will be 32A B 30mA rated. The 32A shows it can supply a load of 32 A continuously without tripping on overload, the "B" is the overload curve which indicates how long an overload can be present before it trips. This is necessary to stop nuisance trips every time you switch on anything with a motor (e.g. heating pump, shower pump etc.) when the instantaneous starting current can be as mush as 12 times the running current. The 30mA is the maximum earth leakage current allowable for safety before it trips - statistically this should protect your heart if you touch a live conductor while also touching something earthed. Regarding your camper van, I don't know the applicable current rules, but it sounds like a problem with inrush currents being seen as an earth fault.
