MikeyB wrote: Hey Lloyd,  I'k slightly confused here - if I have a middle sill with nose, do I still need a nose on an outer? cheers Mikey You do need a nose on both, the outer sill nose is longer than the middle and both are part of the original 3 layer construction. Colin
  4. Blimey Tim, who is going to man Gordano this year then. Jim's shoes are big ones to fill, a familiar and friendly face is essential at Gordano (along with a large coffee), it has to be the point of lowest ebb for me after the thrills of Wales. Gordano has almost become a word in it's own right meaning 'tired beyond belief'. Colin
  5. According to the blue book Dave it is a wire which starts off as white from the fuse which also feeds the main lights (not the fuse that feeds indicators, interior lights etc). It turns to a pink with white in the loom and splices into the white with yellow cable which connects to the positive on the coil. I would remove the white cable at the fuse which doesn't power the lights or the roundel warning light cluster (the third white cable on this fuse), isolate the end from touching anything and run a fresh cable from the fuse (on the spade just vacated) to feed the coil. You may find that the original white with yellow cable may still have 12v as it is from the solenoid on the starter anyway. Colin
  6. Here is Team 78's car, at Blyton on a trackday. Dad and I as the drivers and perhaps a.n.other. Colin
  7. Well Dad will be 68 and a half by Oct next year, I like to think he has a couple left in him at least. We have already discussed it and he knows that as long as he wants to do it, he will always have a seat with me, in fact he would need to tell me he didnt want to before I had automatically put his name on the form as co-driver. It's important to think about the next generation and RBRR continuing in the long term future, it wont be that long until it's the present! Colin

Although now sh is 25 Jess is angling to drive the PI if her Coupe does not get entered. And don't you think that is just another highlight of the RBRR Richard, being able to do the run as a family if you wish? I hope in the future that not only will my son Callum do it again with me (but as a driver rather than 11year old passenger), but also both of our daughters when old enough. It's a cracking event and one that needs the next generation joining to carry on. Colin

  10. Dad and I at 78 and my sister Elaine (first RBRR and new CT member) at no. 80 in her auto 1500HL dolomite. Colin
  11. We have to finish the extension on the side of the house. Downstairs is the garage and I expect Amanda will want upstairs finished too. I also need to get the new soakaway at the front finished as the foot wide trench next to the drive is currently stopping both Triumphs (currently under covers on the garden) reaching the road let alone doing the RBRR :( Colin
  12. The real cost for Alan of using an Acclaim could not be measured in monetary terms alone. Those who were there will long remember the welcome Alan received from the attendant at the fuel station just North of the Firth of Forth last year. That was worth the entry fees and fuel costs on its own, priceless. Colin
  13. I will have a spare one on board in October, Lucas of course, just incase. ;) Also although it wasn't part of the original question on the thread, don't forget to put a stop tap in the feed to the filter from the tank, it makes changing the element and any subsequent pump maintenance so much easier. Colin
  14. I agree with Alec totally, the heat build up in the Lucas pumps is as much to do with a poor supply to the pump as anything else. Under voltage heats the pump up. I have never had problems on my pi because of the Lucas pump. Colin
  15. Dad and I again this year (form in the post today ;)), Amanda's slipped disc back in August has left her unable to stand 48hrs in a car. There's always 2016 and beyond for her though. How about a thread for father and son crews or just family ones? Colin.
  16. timbancroft61 wrote:Gawd, I'm rubbish at remembering the H&W teams eh!!! Anymore? Don't beat yourself up Tim, Amanda and I aren't H&W (yet!) Colin
  17. Amanda and I did the run together last year (with Dad too), at the moment my co-drivers are 'mulling it over', Amanda slipped a disc in August and finds long journeys abit of a pain, so may not do next year. One things for sure, there will be a Radford entry again next year. My sister joined CT yesterday at the NEC and plans on using her auto 1500HL dolly for the run, with her husband as co-driver. Colin
  18. Two gallons came from my house and met you via Amanda at Blyton as I remember. One gallon was out of the estate, the other I think was used diesel oil out of the 206 :B I got a lot of it back though on the screen and front of the estate during the weekend. Colin.
  19. I have just been trying to have a look at Doug's car with the minilites on via his blog but......where's you blog gone Doug? Colin
  20. Ye but after I had emptied the 25 litre drum at the tip the other week. Mind you there was gearbox oil and brake fluid in that too ;D
  21. cook1e wrote:Another important bit of prep work for the RBRR completed, I've agreed with the ex Missus that she'll have the Kids for the weekend..... Without this I'd have to take an 11 and 13 year old along on the run! My son (who was 11 at the time) came with Dad and I on our first RBRR in 2010. He has the tankard to prove it too. Not sure which car to take tbh, or whether both cars will be needed. The estate will need some arch repairs before hand as it has run out of MOT and I don't want to re-MOT until the arches/wings and valances have been done. The pi really wants an engine freshen up as it would need a fair amount of oil for 2000+ miles in a long weekend. Colin
  22. Dave I couldn't comment directly on your question, although I'm sure that your stores have your original PI ones in them to try (if not I have some), CW does different drag strut bushes to 'sharpen' the steering but that doesn't change the angle of the rack ends. Have you asked Chris this question, or perhaps Andy Roberts as he had the mk1 racer. Colin
  23. I have Cibie outer and Marchall inners on the estate and Hella outer and Cibie inners on the pi. The pi also has pilot lights in the outers to add to the normal side lights. Both cars have large feeds and relays and both cars have impressive light output. As an experiment before fitting the Halogens on the estate I just added the large feed and relays. Dipped beam (original sealed beam) had 28% more light output measured with a lux meter with the new feeds! A word of caution. The pi had the halogens fitted when I bought it, but no relays..........I didn't realise this until I flicked from dipped to main on a very dark night. It takes a second or so for the brain to realise what you need to do to get the lights back. ??) Colin.

    Diff continued

You could use a CW&P from a 2500 saloon or estate, they are 3.45:1 and would give about 70mph at 2700rpm (approx) Someone will be along with experience of doing this soon I'm sure. Colin
  25. It would be great if the weather is as good for the whole weekend as it was this year. Colin
