  1. The main driver part was missing, this was the key to booking in by the look of it. All done now and I have received confirmation of booking and of payment emails from CT. Good luck everyone. Colin
  2. It is now showing in the shop if that's the way you enter, but you click on crew 1 and I can't see how to enter any details, the link doesn't open anything as such.
  3. New car for us for next year's run, JO is a lightly modified mk1 2000 in Valencia blue. Alfa 156 seats, no overriders, some polybushes underneath and 15" Compomotive MLs...........oh and a 24valve 2.5 BMW straight six from an E36, Mk1 Golf GTI alloy radiator, 5spd E30 Getrag gearbox, lengthened BMW two piece prop and a 3.45 Triumph diff with Gripper LSD. Anyone got any idea who I need to contact about why my existing username and password wont work on the new website All linked to my membership number with cars registered to it etc. Been trying since lunchtime to access it but to no avail.  Tried the forgotten password route but not received an email that way even in a spam folder. PM'd Keith around half 5 but no response yet. Trying to enter RBRR18 but website says NO! Colin
  5. Can't get my head round it either Andy, all the things that you needed to do like linking your membership to forum name and cars against your membership have been in place for years and yet still my username and password weren't carried over so can't get logged in or entered.
  6. Contrary to my previous post FRanK has not been sold, Amanda didn't want me to (neither did I really). Looks like it will be first time around in a mk1 though, as now JO  the mk1M is ripping up the tarmac I will have to take it round.
  7. Well quite clearly HOE was not interested in doing 2016 and FRanK will be sold by then so it looks as though it could be a first outing on the RBRR for JO the mk1M. Lots to do before then and a bottom end rebuild on my sister Elaine Cartwright's  1500HL Dolomite GranDaD too. Must start prep earlier this time, don't want to sit it out again like 2016.

Just to muddy the waters, my Dad had problems with his mk1 2000 which were similar to yours Greeks, fuel starvation/vapourisation in hot weather, traffic jams on the M25 etc. Fuel visible in the glass bowl of the pump and nothing obvious. It eventually started happening when I was with him and we found that the diaphragm in the pump although not split was delaminating as such and there was fuel between the layers. This made the pump struggle to pump. One repair kit later from Fitchetts and it has been fault free since. Colin

    draining diff oil

    No gasket there as the oil shouldn't get there either. The oil seal at the front of the diff is the culprit. This is accessed by removing the diff nose piece along with the quill shaft. Leather lipped original seals  (from CW) are best. If it has been leaking for a time the oil will wash the grease out of the quill shaft bearing in the nose and ruin that too. I did it on the pi a while back and it shows some pics and explaination on my blog. Colin
  10. My first RBBR in 2010 was with my Dad and my son Callum(just turned 11 at the time). We ate at the Plough before the start of the run and unfortunately by Edinburgh Callum had been sick. This continued throughout Scotland (no breakfast at JOG or pie at Morrisons) and by the time we got to Lancaster services the decision had to be taken as to whether we retired and turned left towards home on the M62. He had been through at least half a roll of bin bags by then and was unable to even keep water down. He and Dad had a chat whilst I got the roadbook signed, when I returned he said he was feeling better and wanted to carry on. By the M5 early Sunday morning he said to me 'Dad, when we get to Land's End, I'm going to have sausage, bacon, egg, beans.....@ I cut him short with 'Dry toast and a sip of water'. He did pig a bit at Pimperne and we finished the run. He will return (hopefully as a driver) in due course. The funniest story I have heard was from Ann Weaver from when her and Mike used the 4x4 estate. A fanbelt failure in the early hours on the M5 resulted in Mike lying under the car struggling with the Alternator (Stag engine remember), Ann realising she was no help standing in the cold, decided to get back in the car nearly crushing Mike's head as the car bounced on the driver's side. You really have to hear Ann telling the story to appreciate this. Mike is OK though. Colin
  11. Gordano is the lowest point of a brilliant weekend, not sure how bad the coffee is when you go there normally but in the early hours of Sunday morning it's the greatest drink you have EVER drunk

I have the full Stag setup on the PI Matt, except the pwda valve (or whatever it's called), I have noticed that after hard use (track days) the brakes and handbrake on the car are very good, pedal travel lessens too, so the rear brake adjusters need to be 'assisted' to auto adjust. Pads make a huge difference to the braking between the two cars, NOS pads seem much more fade resistant and brake better than new pads. I have never tried the Mintex pads, but I have heard good things about them and probably will try them one day. The larger rear brakes of the Stag setup also help imho, but because of the drum shape fitting some wheels requires a thin spacer. Both our MOMOS AND WOLFRACE slots are effected in this way. This can be an issue with rear arch clearance on the wider mk2 rear suspension. Colin
  13. I wouldn't say so Matt, I have had Stag front brakes on the estate for a good 5 years with the original m/c, servo and rear brakes, never had any probs with this set up. Colin
  14. Dad's one was on his mk1 GT6 too Julian, they are thinner than later GT6 items and usually do have a bend in them. Colin
  15. Matt I have the standard ARB on the estate along with standard fr springs and CW uprated 520s on the back, the Pi has no ARB on the front and 205/400 fr springs and 575 rears. The PI (imho) not only rolls less than the estate but also rides better, as the front wheels are still fully independent  of each other, something that an ARB removes!. So my question (along with Colin Wake it would seem) is, do you need an ARB? perhaps it's a Colin thing? Colin

  17. When I fitted rear belts in the estate I used Securon 264 inertia reel ones. These are the type used in the rear of an Acclaim. I then fixed the reels on the rear arch bowls but lower down than in the photo already posted, with an FIA harness plate on the inside of the arch. You have got a redundant pillar mount bracket on the belt which you can't use, but this has never bothered me. I have heard the argument about the belt being at the wrong angle as it comes over the shoulder, but this is very similar to the seatbelt in a herald/spitfire or GT6. I would much rather have the 3 point belt than a lap belt, which is why I fitted them. I may be able to do a couple of pics to show what I mean about fitting them lower down the arch. Thanks Ted but I'm not an expert, I've just doe the job a couple of times. Also note that Securon 254 belts that you use in the big saloons only work for the under tens in an estate, I initially fitted one of these in the estate for the 2010 RBRR, Dad and I could only just use it and breath, it was fine for my son Callum who was ten at the time lol. They are too short for the more remote position of the reel mounting. Colin.

    When I put on some after market seals I originally tried a mitred joint, but I have since made the join on the horizontal underneath section and curved the seal aroundthe top corner. Doesn't seem to effect the seal's performance and is much easier. Colin.

    I did the estate ones whilst in plaster pete, not an easy job, but doable still. I wouldn't use silicon to ease them in with though! I don't need to tell you the effect it has if you want to do any painting in the future. Colin
