  1. The link got sent to the in-laws, who forwarded it on to other members of Andie's family, so it got a few hits there.
  2. Still trying to get water leaks and running temperature to an acceptable status on the Dolomite before the 10CR.
  3. Hope you don't get too badly affected and recover quickly Jim.
  4. That's not good! Best of luck getting it sorted!
  5. Well.. we made it home despite the best efforts of the water leak! Saturday water loss was bad... Sunday not bad... Today, shocking! Had to stop and refill the header 3 times. Think I might need to fix that before the 10CR. Great event once again, thanks to the organisers in particular and all the other participants for making it such fun.
  6. I was just about to comment something similar! @Darren Sharp Binny the Dolomite all set last night, fluids checked, tools and things packed up and ready to go... Strangely on my Google Photos account the "1 year ago", "3 years ago" and "4 years ago" memories are all Border Raiders! 2019: 2018:
  7. I think it's always been a dicey subject for the club in the past due to: 1) Concerns over being dragged into slander/liable situations for negative feedback 2) The awkward situation of trying to generate advertising revenue for the club when members are critical of "certain suppliers" on the forum etc. Having said that, I'm not a club official and imho people need to know about shonky goods/suppliers. (I just understand the clubs past caution)
  8. Good result and thanks for reporting back!
  9. Have to say... really looking forward to the event.
  10. Congratulations on your impending wedding! Sorry... no helpful suggestions on car decoration.
  11. Softness and shandy drinkingness and voting preference varies? 😉
  12. Good to know that it's do-able @Dannyb
  13. Recently had the carbs off the Dolomite in the hope of curing the petrol p155ing out of the rear carb (airbox paint shows evidence of front carb over-flowing as well), all back together now, but still a bit close to the start of the Border Raiders for comfort! Then it's a few more niggling things on the Dolomite or anything that falls off on the BR before the 10CR. Post 10CR the prep starts on the Spitfire for the RBRR.... (long term planning as I can only cope with 1 thing at a time these days)
  14. Took the plunge and ordered one, I have a spare 3.63 that I'll use it in and at some point swap them over. (Although Spitfire is "back burner" until after the 10CR in the Dolomite)
  15. It could be, I thought BSP shared standard AF spanner sizes with SAE etc. though. Sadly (?) I came to the whole metric thing later in my mechanicing life, so none of my metric tools have been used enough to wear to that extent!
  16. Yeah, but should I use a metric adjustable or an imperial one? 😉
  17. Closest I've found so far... 13.34mm = 1/4" BSW.
  18. I'm advised by Burlen that the correct size spanner/socket for the needle valves in a Stromberg is 13.25mm AF. Pardon my language, but what-the-f**k? It doesn't even map to an imperial size (SAE or Whitworth), where the **** do I get a 13.25mm spanner/socket? I mean, it's taken them so long to reply to my inquiry that I just used an adjustable spanner anyway, but I'm still curious!
  19. That's an excessive amount of faff for a job that's already faffy enough! Good one getting it sorted though!
  20. Isn't pretty much everyone taking part a southerner from your point of view? 😉
  21. When it comes to the manifold nuts I like this: Land Rover prop-shaft socket with a few thou skimmed off the outside for clearance.
  22. Oh what tragic and shocking news. Such a sad loss.
