Doig
I noticed another thread said not to use GL5 spec gearbox oil in old triumph gearbox's (It not good for copper bits apparently)Checking what I put in mine last year it is unfortunately a GL5 spec oil.Any GL4 oil I can find is only 80 SAE. Is this OK?What does everyone else use.
steadyg
I read somewhere ( Brain fade ) about using engine oil in the gearbox ? Any thoughts on this ?Garry
Jason
The engine oil idea comes from the different approaches taken to overdrives - Triumph alwasy specified EP90, Healey specfied engine oil as I think did MG. Confusion reigns. I've got Redline's MT90 fully synthetic in mine - just lets me brag a bit (it's all bullshit really), I've noticed no real difference apart from it feels less inclined to get notchy when hot!
