AlanP Posted May 20, 2022 Posted May 20, 2022 I'm looking to purchase a TR6 but would like to know what I should look-out for in the way of rust areas and weak spots. I ran a MGB GT for many years so do have some insight into old vehicles. All advice and help gratefully received. Quote
Batch Posted May 20, 2022 Posted May 20, 2022 Hi Alan The TR Register so a number of buyers guides for the TR range (https://www.tr-register.co.uk/tr-buyers-guides) which are a good starting point. Dave 1 Quote
Pierre Posted May 20, 2022 Posted May 20, 2022 As Dave has said, check out the TR Register. The website has an excellent forum through which you can very quickly find out almost anything about the TR range - and you don't have to be a club member to access it either. i would recommend looking at that and to get first hand information from other owners, I strongly recommend visiting your local TRR group as well - meeting details are on the website. Just turn up and get stuck in - you'll be made very welcome I'm sure. And yes, I am a TRR member and a very happy TR6 driver covering around 7,000 miles every year (Covid allowing), but not sufficiently knowledgeable to offer dependable technical advice. 1 Quote
AlanP Posted May 23, 2022 Author Posted May 23, 2022 Dave, Pierre. Thank you for your advice. I will certainly look at the TR register. The price range of those TR6s for sale is quite large. My budget is not vast but I don't want to end up buying a car that needs loads of work. I'm happy working with the engines, brakes, suspension, etc, but not bodywork. Alan Quote

Alan Hi Alan, Based on your feedback above, I would be looking for an ex USA (dry state) car, which should be a great start with regards to body & chassis. What is your budget ? Cheers. Quote
shenderson Posted May 25, 2022 Posted May 25, 2022 There is one for sale on here, also advertised in Club Torque. Try putting "TR6, 1970, in Blue for sale" in the Search box. Quote
AlanP Posted June 6, 2022 Author Posted June 6, 2022 Thank you for your advice, TRTOM2498. My budget is limited, around £15K Quote
