thebrookster Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Sounds a bit of an odd question, however can anyone tell me who made the alternators fitted to the dolly sprint? I assumed they were Lucas jobs, however a mate of mine is using one as part of a wind turbine for a college project, so really needs slightly more than an assumption :)If anyone could also give me a model number I would be very grateful.Picture attached, if I can get this Google+ thingy to work!
Spider Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Your mate would be better off using a dynamo as they produce 12v at a lower RPM than an alternator. The Centre for Alternative Energy at Machynlleth used to sell plans for a DIY wind turbine using a dynamo and a bicycle wheel for a couple of pounds. Well worth a read. All the best Spider.
mikeyb Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Well that one in the photo is not a standard Sprint alternator - nromally something like a Lucas 17ACR. The one in the pic looks more like a Lucas A127
