Amy Wade
Hi peeps, Is there anyone that could help sort out the hood frame on my Mk3 Spitfire, at the moment it's chewing through the seat when it's down. It would be nice if the someone is in the Oxfordshire area. Thanks in advance, Amy
RobPearce
I'd be happy to take a look (and compare with mine) but I'm not that close to Oxfordshire.
Amy Wade
Where are you based? Perhaps I could have a little drive on a nice weekend. I'm not in a hurry, it hardly gets used & the hood frame has already eaten holes in the seats, I'd just like to get it sorted out before doing anything with the seats. RobPearce
Sure. PM me when you know when you might be over this way. A few weeks earlier and I could have arranged to visit you on the way to the C2C.
PeteStupps
I think it's a common issue with the mk3 if you have the seats set quite far back, I've seen several examples since having the problem myself. The mk4 improved it by having narrower seat backs and nifty little shrouds on the hood frame. I ended up making some cardboard sleeves (reinforced with gaffer tape) to post over the hood frame hinges. The damage is already done to the seat covers but it's not getting any worse.
