Dannyb
Hi, Just took delivery of a new 1300 ground camshaft for the 1500 Spit, and will be now buying followers and gaskets for my next winter project. My question is on the followers. Standard and ones with drilled holes etc. But what are the small diameter ones for ? Danny
PeteStupps
Hi Danny. Small ones are for the early 1147 Spits and Heralds. I bought standard followers from Canleys and they've lasted well on my 1300fwd and Spitfire. Don't think the drain holes are really necessary personally. Pete Edit: Newman cams also sell followers and have a good reputation. Whatever you buy, check that they're flat on the bottom! Dannyb
Thanks Pete. That clears that up. Where I looked it listed for all spit engines. Danny
glang
Yes I would have thought best, if possible, to get the followers from the cam supplier or at least ones recommended by them. Then follow their installation/ run in procedure religiously so that if theres any problems later they havent got any get outs😬 1
Dannyb
I've also got a set of new hollow pushrod I have had laying around for about 15 years. Is there any point in using these or stick with the standard ones. Danny
Velocita Rosso
Our cam was from Newman with matching followers....The old ones from a `reputable `Triumph supplier had craters worn in them. ARP push rods and head bolts really good
