Anthony
I'm know the bonnet and bulkhead on the 1200s changed throughout their production, and am aware of the following changes.... Indicators size changed Headlight Cowl reshaped "Herald" Vs "Triumph" lettering on the Bonnet Bonnet vent/grille towards the bulkhead changed Vent/grille on the bulkhead changed Wiper spacing increased Can anyone tell me when these changes occurred, and if there are any others I haven't spotted on the 1200 models yet? Thanks
Paudman
Headlamp cowls went from long to short, if I'm remembering correctly, about 1963 In 1961or thereabouts they used single-lamp sidelights and 'Herald' bonnet lettering but only for a short time, early 1962 maybe. Early bonnet vents went from an inset grille section to a one-piece pressing around 1964. Wiperspacing went from narrow to wide around 1967 with the advent of the 13/60. Other alterations (despite the massive change from Mk1 to Mk2 chassis) were: bonnet fittings ie the rubber cone went from bonnet to bulkhead, heater lost the drain pipe and gained a rubber flap, wheels changed from wide slot to narrow slot.. and there are bound to be many more! Anthony
Thanks Colin, So the headlight cowls went from long to short? I was under the impression it was the other way round, but your way certainly makes sense from a manufacturing and cost point of view. My '69 car came with a few cowls in both lengths. I guess I should leave the short ones on for originality then
Paudman
I've had more than one with one short and one long, but later cars were shorter. I managed to obtain a remade pair of long-peaks a few years back for my 1962 1200... still not fitted but at least they're salted away. I would reckon that very few observers would ever notice the difference!
Bitumen Boy
Mine has an odd pair and I didn't notice for years. It's a fairly subtle difference.

herald948
Great list, and very useful! Oh, and thanks for noting my Database! Of course, nothing in the Triumph World is "absolute"! For example: GA15938 Jun 61 No Bonnet handle I have, on that database, an "export" model 1200 convertible (has Courier-style grille), GA16005LCV, which has the bonnet handle! But given how close that is to 15938, I'm not surprised that the handle would be present!
