Am tips / ideas why i have long pedal travel?

I've changed the rear cylinders, master cylinder and caliper pistons and seals. Also flexies and all the pipes. Now after all that i have a very long pedal, they work, they work better if pumped. It does lock the both front wheels, but the passenger side always locks first, is this connected?
Any ideas, not sure if its air or something else.
It may even be the rear, i have adjusted them but when i fitted them i looked at the bleed hole and it wasn't at the top of the cylinder, they were all the same (the old and new ones) how do you ensure the air is out?
Can the hand brake adjustment or assembly of the rear brakes affect the pedal travel.

Cheers
Steve

Either air in the system, the brake hoses expanding under pressure or the shoes not adjusted.

Another weird one can be wheel bearings with too much play; causing the brakes to be pushed in too much whilst driving.

Personally I prefer S/S braided brake hoses as the give a firmer pedal.
