Encom
Hi. Hope everyone is staying safe and keeping well. I have a question regarding needles for a pair of CD150's fitted to my Vitesse. Standard they are fitted with 'Natural' springs and 6J needles. Car now has 'headers', gas flowed intake manifold, velocity stacks (my own compound curved ones) and KN filters. It seems to be running lean from about 4,000rpm. Is there a go-to needle/spring combination for a mildly tuned 2litre?
Steve AKA vitessesteve
The best way forward would be rolling road tuning. If it is too lean you need a thinner needle. The profile of the needle controls the air flow and therefore amount of fuel available. Have a look at the tables in "Tuning Stromberg CD_Carburetters" a copy of which you can download from this page of my website at: http://vitessesteve.co.uk/Other-manuals Are you sure the ignition is keeping up? Is there enough spark at the right time.
Pete Lewis
you could try a alternative spring or fit the 1600 heavy damper diaphragm ring pete
