James R Tab
Hello, i recently purchased a triumph herald 13/60 saloon that hasn't been ran since 2000, on dismantling the carburettor (to check for perished diaphragm or a stuck piston) i found that there is no spring to return the piston.I would like to know if anyone has a spring, carb or knows of anywhere i can obtain a spring.p.s i am new this forum and any help would be greatly appreciated. mazfg
Some of the earlier CD150's didn't have springs, as the pistons were heavier than the later versions. I think there is a list somewhere showing which serial numbers had them..I'll try and fish it out sometime.
mike91
My 13/60 certainly never had a spring...Haven't got my Stromberg Haynes to hand, but I am 97.5% sure when I checked the 13/60's had a springless piston. Cheers, Mike
Straight Six
I always assumed the Stromberg CDS had a spring, but the Stromberg CD didn't.
mike91
The CD carbs on my Vit engine have 'natural' coloured springs. And they're the old style CD... but they're so lightweight they're hardly there!
James R Tab
Yep i should have checked first but even the owners manual that came with the car says it's a weighted piston, just seemed a bit odd to me.
