cnicholson Posted June 22, 2010 Share Posted June 22, 2010 I have a big problem with my d Type overdrive, basically i took it for a long run, on my return it smelt burning gear oil, and then the o/d failed, i tooke tunnel of and found no obvious siign of a leak, topped p the oil and then the o/d worked again.Took it for another spin on a hot day and the same thing happened, has anyone got any ideas or do i just bite the bullet and buy a new one? neilnaz Posted June 22, 2010 Share Posted June 22, 2010 How much oil did you use to top the Gbox up? The smell of oil suggests that you have an oil leak which drops the level and hence pressure to a point where the O/D will not engage. I would try to make sure that there is no leak.
