  1. Hi Brian I have messaged the group owner on your behalf to answer your query. If you don't get any joy then please message me directly Regards Tim Ward National local group organiser.
  2. Well....the GT6, that I've booked in to do the RBRR, has suffered a major engine failure. I was getting abnormal crankcase pressures and a dip in hot oil pressure. Results of a compression test revealed 60psi on no2 cylinder and 0psi on no6 cylinder. I've noticed a drop in performance but convinced myself it was my imagination. Turns out not so much!
  3. Thanks Andy I've since found out. Personally I think it's a great hotel and very good value for money with really large rooms. I've booked the Premier Inn Central
  4. Just looked at booking the Novotel Hotel. Website saying no availability? Anyone have any idea why?
  5. Hi All 1970 UK PI TR6. Im having an on going issue. When cold and on choke the car runs very well. Once its warm and off choke it gets fluffy on initial throttle like its only running on 4 cylinders and occasionally backfires through one or two of throttle bodies. Once its on the move and into the mid-range it clears and revs cleanly all the way to the red line. I have recently fitted new plugs, HT leads, Dizzy cap, Rotor arm and an Accuspark electronic ignition module. This has help enormously with its cold running but not once it's hot. The car has an aftermarket fuel filter and high pressure fuel pump fitted but is otherwise standard. Timing is set at 10deg. Fuel enrichment lever closes fully with choke off. Any ideas?
  6. I understand it to be within 10% of each other not 5, 10 or 15 psi specifically.
  7. Ignore everything you've read so far and use electrolysis. Placing a chunk of iron connected to + on battery charger then connect - to the tank. Submerge the entire tank in a plastic container filled with bicarbonate of soda and water. Switch on the battery charger and leave. It could take a few days or upto a week or more but it will get rid of all the rust from everywhere inside the tank. Plenty of guides on Google and YouTube. A friend did his and the inside of the tank looked like new after a week. Use science rather than a cement mixer!
  8. Surprised you managed to get it all in with the bonnet on. Well done you. Zoom into my pic and look at the steering rack mounts. They are from the USA and wonderful quality

    Gt6 mk3

I can do one tomorrow for you
  10. Long shaft swingspring GT6 I get terrible rotational vibration at anything over 70mph (closed road of course😉) I've had it since I built the car 12 years ago. Everything was replaced at the time of build and has been replaced at least once more since in that time. I have checked the hub runout on the face of my rear discs today and got 0.25mm n/s and 0.10mm o/s. (0.25mm is just under 10 thou) Would this be enough to cause the vibrations? My Alloy wheels balance up fine but they always use the hub centre. The small chassis is obviously stud centric. Would this make a difference? I've swapped all wheels around several times during the 12 years of ownership. Ive bought a set of used alloys today to try out as I can only put it down to my alloys. The one thing I've yet to check using the dti is that the driveshafts are running true, I'll do that tomorrow
  11. I have one in my 3.27 GT6 diff. I'm pleased with it. Done maybe 3000 miles so far. Definitely feel the extra grip but does snap pretty hard if your on the throttle too heavy in the wet 😂
  12. The very last time the gearbox is coming out! Swapping the type 9 gearbox for a heavy duty GT6 box with new 28% j-type overdrive. Decided against the saloon box as I can't be arsed with the mods that go with it. Going to strip front and rear suspension while it's on axle stands, check, check the poly bushes as they are now 12 years old and try to diagnose my I get bad vibrations abave about 80mph. Think I may have a distorted rear hub. Fun times
  13. I did post pics of it before I bought it in early May

    New purchase

Well I went and did something impulsive. I bought this little beauty. Not really a project as its absolutely rust free and runs extremely well but does need little bits doing. Engine and gearbox mounts, a carb tune and a tiny bit of electrical work. Put a set of tyres on her as the ones that were fitted to the car were 18 years old!
  15. I'd push the other end through the rubber not the clevis end. I've never had one split.
  16. GT6/SPITFIRE aftermarket seats complete with original TRIUMPH seat frames. All ready to bolt in. Previously fitted to my MK3 GT6. Collect only from Worcestershire. £275
  17. Thanks Nick it was the chassis I was curious about.
  18. Anyone know the gauge of steel used in the production of the small chassis Triumphs?
  19. You don't have the 3 lines next to the man Club Triumph banner at the top of the page?
