  1. Mr Peason has them available to order....
  2. Bound to be spaces appear nearer the time.....
  3. UK versions do. (HS6) I know some USA versions had injection, others maybe strombergs?
  4. Even Rimmers have them, so must be available via the trade all sorts of places https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-159802
  5. I have ditched my hard top, helmet rubbed on the thing. Does on the soft top too. Much better roof down. We appear to have the "the Flying Farmer" in our group with his stag powered TR250. I Know he has been up to stuff with those engines. And getting some good results. He could be very quick.
  6. Yes, Moss are a proper seller (Unlike many on ebay) and the gates product is excellent.
  7. I think I too would delete the ballast. Sort of simplifies things, and despite the theory of a ballasted system being good, the std 12v setup works perfectly well.
  8. Me, Pete and Nick I know for definate. I am rather looking forward to it. Just need to get an MoT, serrvice and no doubt a few other odds and ends.
  9. Yesterday saw the crank and pistones fitted to the sprint short engine. A bit of (very simple) "balancing" was done. I had a total of 12 conrods to choose from. And the 4 new pistons. I weighed them all (pistons were very good, 3 the same, 1 was 4g heavier) The conrods varied more, but I got a set of rods and pistons that are within 1g of each other. As I said, simple and basic, but certainly no downside. Then I tackled the head. It had been built up with the old shims. I measured the clearanaces, removed teh cam etc and measured each shim. A rummage thrh the assortment I had spare and eventually I "had" it sorted. Refitted the cam and rockers, only to find 50% the clearances were out. I repeated the exercise, similar result. And at that point called it a day. I will revisit tomorrow. Also tomorrow I need to refix my spitfire drivers doorglass, but I am a tad worried about the state of the runner. Only once the doorcard if off will the horrors be revealed.
  10. Our jazz has now been passed on to our eldest. Her husband (only recently passed his test) is very happy with it, he is taking to DIY and their old pug107 was rather limiting. The jazz has now done 3 generations in the same family. We have replaced it with a Suzuki Baleno (a "fat" swift, nearer Focus size) which is very low emissions so saves me a fortune in parking. It has a very impressive 1litre turbo engine.
  11. Easter update. The green Dolly has seen a reasonable bit of use. Both for local meetings and also a longer trip up to the Club dinner. It all seems to be working OK, and pretty economical, nudging 40mpg on the dinner trip. The build of the sprint engine is progressing. Slowly. But the Toldeo has been chopped up, giving up its very good sprint box and axle ready for re-use. I also have a stack of other parts that are too good to weigh in, so expect to see an advert appearing soon. And today, I popped over to the lockup to get the spitfire. All started up ok after a 3 month layup, out of the lockup, and took the hardtop off to leave in the garage. And then it wouldn't start. Luckily Gill was with me so a quick jumpstart and all was well. The spitfire needs a good clean, which is disappointing as I did it last year. It also needs an MoT in the next couple of weeks , so booked it in for Tuesday. I took it for a good run to charge teh battery and blow teh cobwebs away. Lovely, engine spins up to 7k quite happily and all feels good apart from a slight twitch as I applied power on/off, so I will have a look a the back end tomorrow along with an oil/filter change and I may even give the K+N a wash through. More as it happens. Trackday at Castle combe in 4 weeks , so I need to get my finger out.
  12. Or better still, many people seem to have a stock of reclaimed shims. Not sure how many I have after people have borrowed my supply (but often none seem to get used, probably swapped side to side etc on the car?) I am happy to look in the garage to see what I can find.
  13. I expect you will be OK. Assuming the same sort of take-up as last year ( I think everybody who wanted to take part could )
  14. end of next week is the plan...
  15. Not used them myself, but heard good things about Wheels InMotion https://www.wheels-inmotion.co.uk/wheels-alignment.php
  16. They look like nail bars to me. Pretty small though. I have something that is almost identical, but 16" long. Very handy for floorboards.
  17. The Club Triumph AGM will be held via Zoom on Monday 24th April at 8.30pm. The access code for the meeting will be available in the members only section of the forum at least 24hrs in advance. All CT members are welcome.
  18. Not to mention VERY restrictive. I fitted a 2.5 engine, plus the carbs with the needles to my vitesse. Used a modified Vitesse airbox, and the engine would not rev beyond 3000rpm as it was so weak. A change of needles to BDQ fixed that. So teh saloon airbox/filter must be incredibly restrictive if changing to a vitesse airbox affects the mixture that much. It will run with teh saloon needles and that airbox, but you are throwing power away.
  19. Dolomite 1500 uses a unique starter, so ideally you need to swap the flywheel to one off a spit 1500 or possibly the midget one (But I have no midget knowledge) Plan b is get a dolly 1500 starter. But that can be tricky. Remember that the engines with iffy bottom ends may well be revived with a new set of bearings, an inspection will tell you, easy to do with the engine out.
  20. Adrian flux (and others) offer track day insurance. A bit expensive for 10 mins, but I am doubtful "parade lap" insurance exists. The vast majority will not be insured, although some policies can include a few trackdays a year. I have driven Silverstone twice on Trackdays, the circuit is very wide, and 40mph will seem like you are barely moving, so I wouldn't be too concerned. There will be plenty of space for everybody.
  21. "Best" oil is difficult. Partly because it depends how the car will be used. If general use, no hard/long/fast motorway drives, no thrashing the engine etc, I would suggest almost any of the "classic" 20-50 oils will be adequate. If the engine is going to have a hard time, spend more. Penrite or Milers CSS do a great job, but at greater cost and not really needed for most classic car owners. As to exhaust, agree with Rob, the TDC is the place to go to
  22. https://www.clubtriumph.co.uk/profile/25313-hurricane36/ You can use that link to contact Kevin, the DVLA liaison chap. His direct contact details are in the club magazine, which I don't have to hand.
  23. Tricky to say, and depends how risk averse you are. I tend not to insure until a car is roadworthy and about to be used. But if you have something with value it may be worth calling one of the classic insurance specialists and getting a quote. I doubt it will be expensive, but do ask about the cover. I doubt they will want to insure something just left on a driveway, but then again I have never asked.
  24. The seats are from a spitfire 1500, the dash panel is also from that era of spitfire, as are the doorcards. To get interest, you really need to get a bit of space, and lay the stuff out over a number of photos. Any panels (doors?) include pictures of the bottoms where they usually rust. Good doors have value, rusty not so much. You will get more money selllin stuff bit by bit or boxes of bits. However, far more time and energy consuming. A job lot where a buyer takes it all may be preferable, but cash return rather lower. Location also affects values a bit, ie stuff fetches more if it is accessable to more people. Hope that helps. If you want to advertise we have a classifueds section on here, lots of pictures, location and ideally a guide price (sold ebay listings give a rough idea). Alternatively, list on ebay, either complete or smaller lots. Again, more pictures the better.
