  1. Mike, Just a thought - did you have to use E10 fuel whilst abroad?  If so it might have caused your fuel lines to start decomposing.  Cheers, Pete
  2. Jim, look at the photos again.  I reckon the reg is actually SUX 999Y. This vehicle is not recognised on Vehicle Tax website.  However enter reg on Vehicle MoT website and it comes up as a red TR7 showing that MoT expired in 1982.
  3. Howard, I would have thought one of these two suppliers could supply what you need. <www.autosparks.co.uk>  or  <www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk> If all else fails try searching eBay! Cheers, Pete
  4. It looks as though Chris is about to be the referee as Andrew and myself square up to each other!
  5. I didn't record anything in the way of action but, for anyone interested, my Border Raiders photos can now be viewed on my Flickr page by clicking on this link:  https://www.flickr.com/gp/petearnold1/24967H I'm afraid I do associate with Facebook so this is the only way I can share them with you!
  6. May I please echo Nuala's and Mikes's comments . . . . This weekend's Border Raiders was the third one in which Mary & I have entered, and each one has been better than the previous one.  We really enjoyed traversing several "drivers" roads over some remote areas - fantastic!! Very many thanks to the organising team of (in no particular order) Mik, Mike & Chris.  We really enjoyed the weekend in the company of so many like minded crews. Now home safe & sound (not on the back of a lorry this year!) 758 miles after leaving home on Friday.
  7. Graham, I'm no mechanic but I reckon your garage mechanic is wrong.  Look at Canley's exploded parts diagram for the rear axle at https://www.canleyclassics.com/triumph-herald-1200-rear-axle
  8. Mike, According to Canley's, although no longer available, this is listed under Spitfire MkIII as part no.100447. Have you looked at Mick Dolphin's TSSC list?  He shows this part no. as being available!  In case you need them his contact details are:   mickdolphintriumph@gmail.com  or tel: 01530 271326 Good luck!

  10. I (well, my dad actually!) purchased a new Herald 13/60 from Glen Garage at Newton Road, Bletchley.  Its reg no was BPP 525F and a grey colour (dolphin grey?).  I can't remember the time of year but I think it was probably in late 1967 rather than 1968.
  11. Surely he hasn't received a knighthood whilst we've been away for our hols?!?!
  12. Oh yes, much better, you can't see my stomach! What about the legs in this one?!?!?!?!  😫
  13. Andrew,  Nice of you to post a photo showing off my stomach!!!!!!! Glad to hear you got home safely.  We reached home on a recovery truck from south of Newark due to the Vitesse's water pump giving up on us.  So that will be one problem found but I think there's still another one to be identified!
  14. Mary and I just wish to echo the comments already made by other entrants - both how much we enjoyed the event and many thanks to all the organising team. The route book was clear, easy to follow and just the right size for navigators to hang on to! The roads used were a suitable mix of main A+B roads to get us between the interesting ones. The camaraderie amongst all competitors was so enjoyable. There were two worthy winners for Best Car and Spirit of the Event. I could go on and on (and I often do!) but . . . . . . thanks every one from Car 27!
  15. Graham, The original part number for these 4 screws is UL2705 and Mick Dolphin has them listed as available. See - http://www.mickdolphin.co.uk/Files/TSSC%20Weblist%200817.pdf  Alternatively Canley Classics state that this part is no longer available but use UL2704 which is described as "Screw - 1/4" x 1/2" Hexagon Head Acme Thread". Hope this helps
  16. There's currently new ones available on Ebay. See item #292422743620  abd  #292422739109.
