  1. Yesterday I discovered that my electric windscreen washer pump had stopped working. This (so called) Lucas WSB100 universal pump was only fitted last August. It is apparent that there has been water seepage from the casing where the metal and plastic sections join. I'm now wondering if it is important that the unit should be mounted so that the metal section containing the motor is on top of the plastic section through which the water passes. If so I had it mounted the wrong way up!!! Anyone's opinion on this would be welcome as I've just ordered a new pump of the same type.
  2. 2007 was before my Triumph ownership commenced. However there was a second CT organised "Taith O Amgylch Cymru" (Tour of Wales) in 2014 which was my first experience of a CT event and I still have the roadbook. I believe it was all organised by Michael Helm and Andrew Davies. The Tour was held over the weekend of 10/11th May. It started from Glenrid Services and, following the overnight halt at Aberystwyth Park Lodge Hotel, finished at the Bagle Brook Beefeater near Port Talbot. It was a thoroughly enjoyable event which used many minor mountain roads - some gated! - through the Principality. The mileage was approx 190 miles on Saturday and 110 on Sunday.
  3. For what it's worth here's a photo of the alternator & bracket, which I purchased from James Paddock a few years ago, as fitted to my Vitesse. The fan belt I use is Gates 6222MC (or equivalent) and its size is AVX10 x 1050La.
  4. Well done, Adrian - Swindon must be a lucky place for eBay buyers! I bought a ride-on mower there 4 years ago and it's still going well!! Good luck with your project.
  5. Adrian, Have you looked on eBay; there's a 13/60 "for spares/repair" at Swindon with the auction ending on Saturday 30th. See eBay item no: 265658318214
  6. "However she duly ran very well though did develop a knock at the nearside rear wheel which we suspect is a drive shaft UJ." Wendy, Please remind Darren about what might have started as a similar problem on my Vitesse during the 2018 Border Raiders. I later had to replace wheel bearings and halfshaft because I kept going to the finish (and part way home)! Canleys have good advice, see https://www.canleyclassics.com/?archive=rear-end-noises
  7. I doubt it! This photo was posted online dated 18th March
  8. Howard, I suggest you keep a close eye on your reservation. I have just been on the Premier Inn booking website where it still definitely states "Porthmadog hotel will be opening on 16 September 2022". Good luck!
  9. Howard, In case you (or anyone else) were intending to stay at the new Premier Inn at Porthmadog, it is not now going to open until 16th September!
  10. OK, perhaps I should have said E10 rather than unleaded. On this side of the channel some fuel stations (but not Asda) still sell E5, usually described as super unleaded, more suited to classic cars. But, yes, I too remember the days of 2,3 4 or 5 star petrol so you are not alone!
  11. Yesterday, west side of Milton Keynes, unleaded per litre: Morrisons £1.577 / Asda £1.587
  12. One has to remember that driving on the right in a RHD car does not make for safe overtaking. Also 250 miles per day allows little or no time for sightseeing. So, much as we would have liked to have joined in with other CT members, Mary and I feel that Darren is being too optimistic in his mileage/time forecast. Sorry but we'll stick to doing Border Raider type events in this country (and, yes, that does include Scotland!!)
  13. I wonder whether you composed that comment yesterday, 14th Feb!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  14. So which of these saloons is displaying false number plates?!?!?!?!
  15. Not a pretty sight!!!!!!!!!!
  16. And DVLA vehicle tax check states (in red!) that the reg no is invalid.
  17. Possibly this might be of use to you. Triumph GT6 Overdrive Gearbox Rebuild Kit RHP bearings. incomplete. overhaul mk3" currently on offer. See eBay #265284326122
  18. John, Presumably you'll be driving a different type of vehicle during the week before the C2C. And the C2C route is generally in the right direction for your homeward journey!!! Pete
  19. If you read the CT article on page 58 it clearly states: "It is intended that entry will open on 1st February".
  20. I know where my nearest group is but the originator of this query about a Bedford group was Paul (20064), not me!
  21. Howard, I live west of MK; nowhere near Potton!
  22. To the best of my knowledge there isn't a Bedford Group - certainly not listed in Club Torque.
  23. The Rotary Club of Winslow have made available entry forms for this year's Classic Run on Sunday 22nd May. The event starts from Westcott, just off the A41 between Aylesbury and Bicester, and takes in roads through Bucks, Oxon and Herts to finish at Tring Museum. For further info or to place your entry please go to their website at winslowclassicrun.org
  24. Once again the New Year's Day "Vintage Stony" is scheduled to take place. For details please see the the attached poster 2022 poster A3 vf3.pdf
  25. This topic seems to crop up on this forum at least once a year. So here's a copy of the relevant page from my official Triumph Vitesse 2 litre Owners's Handbook; not sure which year but this book is part no: 545006. Perhaps we can now put the clutch to rest!!!!!!!!!!
