  1. Anthony, It's so long since I fitted my seats that I can't remember the details. However I do know that I had to drill new holes in the floor.
  2. I kept the measurements from when I fitted MGF seats to my Vitesse some 8 years ago. The attached diagram was sent to me by another member so my apologies to him for its re-use but I cannot remember who it was.
  3. Yes, my fault I misread the query. Try https://hdpaintcode.com/triumph/ This lists equivalent paint codes as ICI - 3234 and DuPont - 83739. Hope this info is of more use.
  4. I'm nearing the end of my spin on/off engine oil filters. I have been using Fram PH2964 filters which are 85mm high x 76mm diameter and I understand that these do not contain a non-return valve. Can anyone tell me an equivalent for this fitting which does have a non-return valve. Space is fairly tight so the measurements are important.
  5. This website shows it as code 38. http://www.classiccarhub.co.uk/tech/triumph-paint-colours.html#greys
  6. You don't say whether you are referring to inner or outer bearing. However, Canley's diagram is exactly the same as shown in my original "Triumph Vitesse 1600 & 2 Litre Mk1 Spare Parts Catalogue". So Iwoul;d have no hesitation in ordering what Canley's are showing.
  7. Just wondered whether anyone knows anything about Lanoguard as an alternative to other underseal products. It seems to have good reviews but, if anyone has personal experience, please let the forum know.
  8. James Paddock have both headlight rim gaskets (3H2962) and headlamp rubber gasket (13H565) listed.
  9. I wonder how many of you are aware of the FBHVC statement dated 26th February. Following extensive consultation the Department for Transport has announced that they will legislate to introduce E10 petrol as the standard 95 octane petrol grade by 1 September 2021. They will also require that higher octane 97+, to be designated ‘Protection’ grade, shall remain E5 to provide protection for older vehicles. The full FBHVC statement can be read at https://www.fbhvc.co.uk/news/article/fbhvc-clarifies-the-introduction-of-e10-petrol-for-historic-vehicle-owners
  10. Well, I'm no expert but this gives me an excuse to make my first posting on the new website! The Reserve Tank Transfer for Herald/Vitesse is part no 125061 and is available from Canley Classics, James Paddock or Rimmer Bros.
  11. But I hope you've spotted that the website states "Out of stock"
  12. Hi Shaun, You might find the photo and instructions useful shown in Section 5-220 of the Workshop Manual which can be viewed online at https://tecb.eu/onewebmedia/Herald,Spitfire,Vitesse.pdf This is a very large file so give it time to download!  The actual pdf page number you need, listed down the left hand side, is 313. Good luck.
  13. Ideally get someone to check the chassis and in particular the rear suspension mounting areas for corrosion.   When I bought my Vitesse it had failed then passed its MoT 3 months previously.  I was unable to get a good look underneath but decided to risk the purchase - mainly because the car's reg no has my initials!!.  The failure reason on the MoT certificate was shown as excessive corrosion to the offside rear suspension mounting.  The pass certificate was dated the following day at the same MoT location. When I got the car home and my local mechanic put the car up on his lift, it was apparent that a welding repair had been done to get it through its MoT.  However the nearside suspension mounting was in far worse condition and the car should never have been granted a pass certificate! Result was a search - eventually successful - for a good replacement chassis on to which the body was transferred.  More than nine years, and more than 15k miles, later the car is still proving to have been a good choice!
  14. It must be still around as it's taxed until July 2021.
  15. Thanks Ferny. Used 7/16 socket with an extension bar and ratchet.    The job was easier than I expected. My tip is to stick a small bit of masking tape on the outside of the windscreen in line with nozzle positions.  One can then find the correct location when lying on the seats!
  16. Like Howard I do not subscribe to Facebook, nor any other so called "social media", as I have no wish to lay myself open to hackers etc. However, even though I cannot comment there, I do read the CT Facebook page to keep up with what's happening.  It might be worth the committee pointing out to members that anyone can do likewise.
  17. I used a pair of MG/MGF/MGTF Seat Belt Tidys in my Vitesse in which I have MGF seats.  So I don't know whether they are suitable for your seats but have a look at eBay #143572911429.   Alternatively search eBay for "seat belt tidy" and several choices are listed
  18. I ordered and have received a new pair of track rod ends (part no.106468) from Canley Classics for my Vitesse MkI Saloon but my local garage has found that they do not fit.  It is too late to contact Canleys until tomorrow so I thought I'd ask for any advice here first. The inner diameter of these track rod ends appear to be about 1mm larger than the old ones and consequently are a very loose fit.  My Vitesse was rebuilt onto a former Herald 13/60 chassis but all Vitesse/Herald track rod ends are listed under the same part number. Has anyone experienced the same problem?
  19. My Vitesse has passed its MoT once more.  However the tester has advised that the windscreen washer nozzles need replacing as one is missing the small ball in the outlet and cannot be adjusted to squirt in the right direction! I am aware that replacements are readily available from the specialist suppliers.  However I cannot find any info on how to remove the old ones and fit new ones. Has anyone got any tips please.
  20. The reg number is CNO382B, and was built in 1964. To be honest I didn’t think I stood a chance of finding it but my hopes have been raised as I now know the car was used in an ITV program called “The Chief” in 1991 series 2 episode 2.  James, According to DVLA it hasn't been taxed since November 1994 so I doubt it still exists. Pete
  21. To confuse the issue further: According to my parts catalogue, part no 213577 is for "engine nos HC4501 & future".  206623 is for "engine nos up to HC4500E". (These are all Vitesse engines so not appropriate for your requirement.)  However compare the illustrations at Paddocks and Rimmers for 208493, which both show a straight arm, against Canley's drawing which shows what appears to be a curved arm! Hope you get it sorted.
  22. Rob, This shows the layout in my Vitesse and I guess yours is the same. And you're quite right that, as shown, the bracket is fixed to the floor with a couple of self tappers! Pete
  23. Graham, I have recently done a (hopefully successful) bodge on my Vitesse MkI to prevent the accelerator pedal from waggling around so, although my car uses the rod rather than cable system, I can imagine the fiddly job you are attempting. I wonder whether you have looked at the Canley Classics website which uses the original Triumph parts diagrams; if not, take a look at the “acceleration controls” pages for both Herald 13/60 and Vitesse (ref diagrams W, X, XS, XT).  You will find that there are various different pedals and brackets for these cars – at least 2 cable & 2 rod systems, I think. However there appears to be only one bracket and one pedal still available and I’m not sure that this bracket is actually suitable for all the different versions! Good luck, Pete
  24. Surely the easiest way is to look and see which battery lead is bolted to the chassis or bodywork. That is the ground.
