  1. Whilst it wont be a 100% accurate, because milometer doesnt work properly (it recored 12 miles!) based on almost no deviation from route, plus 50 miles exatly to the start and 50 back, it comes in at 27mpg in the stag. Which seems OK. I also officially bought my most expensive ever fuel at £1.72.9 per litre!!!!
  2. Snap. My first too! Only difference is i still have the car, even if its in bits and not ready for this one 😞 At the time, its how it was. Didnt really give it a great deal of thought. If you broke down, you had to find a way. And only circa 35 cars on the event, much less chance of help. Added to which, it was my only car, so bugger all prep was done. It was just another trip.
  3. Good question. I think it probably is?
  4. Thought so. Ran a workshop in great horwood for 10 years, so drove past many times 🙂
  5. Plus filling up with diesel. I know of at least 2 viscous fan coupling failures. One retired, the other allowed the fan to bore a hole through the rad. That retired too. If you have one, give it a little wooble to make sure its good with no play.
  6. You wont be the first, nor, i suspect, the last to do that!
  7. Not guilty. The only white dolly i know locally is in the last house in great horwood as you head your way. Was white but with the red and blue racing livery. It was for sale, so i think he may have sold it?
  8. Tonight we used the portable home made spray booth 🙂 Mostly an assortment of dolomite parts. Apart from the diffs. Definitely not triumph. Needs an extra light behind me as its too dark.
  9. Chris witor has introduced a properly made range of triumph engine mounts. Dont know exactly which cars are covered though.
  10. Make sure they are timken. And make sure thats actually whats in the box.
  11. If the pads squal with a compound that doesnt normally do so (mintex 1444 for example) its normally an indication the leading edge of the pad is making contact before the rest. Ideally the trailing end will make contact first.
  12. In between coats of paint drying on a non triumph job, i thought id prep some more dolomite parts. What i found is that the aqua blaster is great for cleaning up old rubber parts. The subframe mounts have come up like new. Still soft and flexible. I guess the exposed parts being covered in underseal from new helped prolong their life. Then i did one of the headlamp rings too. Cany de-rust this with acid as it has the brass inserts for the adjusters.
  13. But the rule has never been ammended. The only thing that has happened is the DVLA gave clarity on what constitues "destruction of the identity". That said, the rule could not allow a shell swap under any resonable interpratation. Now, or in the past.
  14. Apparantly this lot i bought on the last RBRR was deemed as "excessive" 🙂
  15. Just giving is still an utter waste of space. Totally uninteligible. Having wasted an hour working out what to do, having arrived at the teams creations page, it wont complete and simply says "something went wrong". Nothing i do gets me past this point. Does anyone have any suggestions?
  16. Im still looking for some standard size oil control rings.
  17. Not much progress to report. Too much other stuff/work/life at the moment. But, bought an aqua blaster. Super useful. Amongst other things, put the cylinder head and intake manifold through it. And tackled the corrosion on the bottom of the wing/sill. The wing itself was pretty good, but the sill behind it was holed. Fortunately didnt extend far at all. So patched and wing refitted.
  18. Got to put the screws back in the parcel shelf that fell out on the Border Raiders, thanks to some, erm, large potholes. Might have a stab at fixing the mileometer on the speedo.
